The Keeley 30MS Double Tracker follows the tradition of doubling effects used in studios to create the impression that a part is played twice, with micro variations in timing and tuning. Whereas a simple chorus applies a regular modulation, this pedal aims for the realism of a double take : more organic, more believable, and often easier to blend into a mix.

Its concept is clear: to offer several "recipes" for double tracking, from discreet stereo widening to a short rock'n'roll-style echo, with the bonus of a mono use enriched by a reverb designed to stay musical behind a guitar or vocal.

For Which Musicians and Contexts?

This pedal is aimed at guitarists, bassists, and keyboardists who want a thicker, wider, and more present sound without stacking multiple effects. In the studio, it's perfect for recording takes that already sound "produced," especially in stereo on two channels. Live, it provides a very effective wall of sound feeling when playing in a trio, going into lead, or filling the space between guitar and vocals.

Style-wise, it covers a wide range: pop, indie, rock, blues, worship, light ambient, synthwave, and of course vintage genres thanks to the Slapback mode. Beginners will appreciate the immediate results, while experienced musicians can fine-tune the voices' behavior and effect balance to suit their rig (amp, interface, stereo pedalboard).

Modes, Controls, and Operating Logic

The 30MS Double Tracker operates in mono or stereo. In mono, you benefit from the doubling algorithms with built-in Abbey Verb reverb to add depth without drowning the attack. In stereo, the pedal switches to Double Tracker Pro mode and requires a TRS split cable (not included) to fully utilize two outputs and create a wider stereo image across two amps, two console inputs, or two interface channels.

The modes are designed as four doubling approaches. Dimension offers a "detuned" widening reminiscent of a chorus but without the regularity of an LFO oscillator: the result is more irregular, more "human," and you can have up to two distinct voices for an expressive stereo effect. Abbey is closer to a classic chorus, simulating synchronized tape decks playing in parallel at variable speeds. Slapback targets rockabilly territory: a short echo typical of double tracking, with two altered voices to thicken while keeping bounce.

In Double Tracker Pro (stereo), the pedal drops the reverb to offer more complete control over the two tracks : each voice can be detuned up to plus or minus 30 cents and delayed by 30 ms to achieve subtle, dense, and very natural doubling. The effect level can be adjusted via internal switches, convenient for precisely tailoring the mix to your amp, microphones, or recording chain.

The Sound

The Keeley 30MS Double Tracker's signature is this blend of thickness and clarity. The effect doesn't mask the playing: it adds a second take sensation, with micro differences in tuning and timing that create an immediate sense of width. On rhythm guitar, you get a more "album" sound, more enveloping, without necessarily increasing gain. On lead, notes seem longer and more present while retaining attack.

In stereo, the pedal excels: the image opens up, each side seems to breathe, and the double tracking remains musical even when sent to two amps. In mono, the addition of Abbey Verb reverb helps place the instrument in space, ideal for clean parts, arpeggios, or adding a subtle halo to a vocal. Depending on the mode, you can go from an almost imperceptible widening (perfect for accompaniment) to a more characterful and textured sound (Dimension or Slapback) for a true signature.
