The Nano 2 Series: Korg's Vision of the Mobile Home Studio

With the Nano 2 series, Korg pursues a simple idea: to offer lightweight, compact USB controllers that are complete enough to manage a modern production setup, whether at home, in rehearsal, or on the go. The nanoKEY2 fits into this "pocket studio" philosophy by providing the essentials of a master keyboard while remaining powered directly via the computer's USB bus.

Compared to previous generation compact controllers, the Nano 2 series emphasizes a smoother daily experience: better playing response thanks to the velocity curves and dedicated controls to save time during composition, recording, and MIDI editing. The result is a controller designed for current production workflows, where you quickly alternate between note input, octave changes, and expression adjustments.

A Master Keyboard Designed for DAW, Virtual Instruments, and Mobile Creation

The Korg nanoKEY2 targets producers, beatmakers, film composers, live musicians, and content creators who want a discreet yet effective USB master keyboard. Its 25 velocity-sensitive keys are particularly suited for programming bass lines, chords, melodies, finger-drumming drum patterns "on the keyboard," or quickly jotting down ideas.

Thanks to the Octave button (range -4 to +4), you instantly access the full range of your virtual instruments despite the compact size. This is a real advantage for playing a piano part by splitting it up, controlling a pad sound across multiple octaves, or recording low synth notes without changing tracks or presets.

In the studio, the nanoKEY2 is also an excellent complement to a main workstation: it fits in front of a larger keyboard, next to a pad controller, or on a minimalist desk. On the go, its low-power USB supply (under 100 mA) makes it convenient with a laptop. For optimal stability, using an active USB hub is recommended, especially if you connect multiple devices simultaneously.

Expressive Controls and Quick Access to Essential Parameters

Velocity and playing feel

Velocity sensitivity allows you to record more musical performances: dynamic nuances on a piano, attack variations on a synth, or accents on rhythmic patterns. The 4 velocity curves help you adapt the keyboard's response to your touch: useful if you play softly, if you want higher MIDI values, or if you switch between different styles and instruments.

Pitch, modulation, and sustain: the essential trio

The Pitch (Up/Down) buttons facilitate precise bends, ideal for leads, virtual guitar lines, or synth-style effects. The Modulation button quickly controls an expressive parameter often assigned to vibratos, filters, or modulation movements in virtual instruments. Finally, the Sustain button is indispensable for piano parts, pads, and chord progressions, without requiring a pedal in ultra-light setups.

Simple connectivity and immediate integration

The mini USB connection ensures quick setup: plug in, select the controller in your DAW software, then play. The nanoKEY2 comes with a USB cable and software, making it a ready-to-create solution right out of the box. Its slim format and white finish fit well in both a clean studio setup and a mobile production station.

Love this mini keyboard! in a more than reasonable budget, we have enough to compose small music effectively. I don't know how to play piano with two hands and I just play a few chords with one hand or improvise things with one finger... associated with a good software (logic pro for me, on which it is recognized without any driver or particular configuration... tested on garageband, it's the same), each note is therefore recorded at noon (including the velocity!) and it is not very difficult to correct your errors in a software way afterwards:))
A nice little extra: because of its size and finesse, it is easily transportable when you leave with your laptop and still want to make a bit of music elsewhere than at home.
A real pianist will surely be frustrated by its size that does not offer the possibility of playing with both hands I imagine, if the goal is above all to have something transportable then why not, otherwise you will have to add a few dozen euros for a larger keyboard! :-)

Unfortunately, the product is defective. I spent a weekend trying to fix the problem that I thought was inherent to my PC but it was a hardware problem. The care by the after-sales service is correct and for the return period I do not know yet, where my reservation is.
