The KORG Poetry stands out in the KORG digital piano family with a strong concept: offering an instrument that highlights the romantic repertoire without sacrificing the versatility needed for everyday practice. Its sound identity revolves around two complementary piano visions: the intimate warmth and unique timbre of a period PLEYEL, and the more direct breadth of a contemporary Italian piano appreciated for its projection and clarity. This approach allows switching from a very nuanced "salon" interpretation to a more stage presence, while retaining the advantages of a digital piano: stability, ease of use, and no need for tuning or regular maintenance.

Keyboard Design

With its 88 keys featuring RH3 (Real Weighted Hammer 3) heavy action, the KORG Poetry aims for an authentic piano touch, designed to develop finger independence, attack precision, and phrasing nuances. The velocity sensitivity accurately conveys dynamic differences from pianissimo to fortissimo, while the touch selection (5 types) allows adapting the keyboard response to your playing: firmer for enhanced control, or more responsive to facilitate velocity and fast passages. A notable feature for the romantic repertoire: the PLEYEL sound is based on an approach inspired by a historic 80-key keyboard, to recover a musical feel consistent with the spirit of the period instrument.

Sound Quality

The sound generation relies on a stereo PCM engine and detailed samples, offering 30 voices in total to cover essential piano playing and accompaniment. The PLEYEL piano provides a rare timbre, more muffled and "woody," ideal for nocturnes, preludes, and mazurkas, with the possibility to tune the instrument to a period color, notably at 430 Hz. Complementing this, the contemporary Italian piano delivers a brighter and broader response, particularly suited for singing passages and grand crescendos. The 120-note polyphony, combined with sympathetic resonance, enhances the sense of harmonic interactions and chord sustain. Finally, the built-in 2 x 25 W amplification powers two 4-inch speakers for stable stereo output, suitable for apartment practice as well as medium-sized rooms.

Built-in Effects

The KORG Poetry offers a simple and musical effects section, designed to shape the piano sound without altering its character: Brilliance (3 levels) to adjust attack and brightness, Reverb (3 levels) to place the instrument in a more or less spacious environment, and Chorus (3 levels) to widen certain textures, especially on non-piano sounds.
