A 55-02 Designed in the Spirit of the Legendary 55-94
The 55-02 carries the DNA of the famous 55-94, with the same key electronic components: LH3 pickups hand-wound in Lakland's Chicago workshop and the LH3 preamp powered by a 9V battery. This lineage is also reflected in the overall philosophy of the model: a stage bass with a "best in class" sound, designed to stand out in any mix, with real dynamic range and precision.

This 5-string electric bass is aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists looking for a comfortable, stable, and highly adaptable 5-string. The 35" / 889 mm scale will delight those wanting a clear and punchy B string, ideal for funk, pop, gospel, modern rock, metal, or fusion. Its active electronics and pickup blend make it an excellent choice to switch from a massive, modern sound to more articulated textures without changing instruments.
The Tone
The combination of a ash body and quilted maple top provides a very effective balance: solid lows, sharp attacks, and beautiful definition in the upper spectrum. The MM-J configuration covers a wide sonic range, from powerful, dense punch on the humbucker-style pickup side to more precise and biting tones on the J-style pickup side. The Lakland LH3 preamp offers active EQ (bass, mids, treble) with boost/cut, a progressive pickup blend, and a master volume with tone bypass via push/pull. Internal switches also allow selecting the mid boost/cut frequency to finely adjust the bass's place in the mix.
