A Versatile Flagship of the LCT Series
The LCT 940 embodies Lewitt's expertise in high-end studio microphones. It combines the finesse of the capsule derived from the LCT 640 with a 12AX7 tube stage while maintaining the precision of a FET signal path. This hybrid architecture makes it a benchmark in the professional range for demanding recordings where you want to choose the color without sacrificing definition.
Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?
Ideal for lead vocals, voice-over, acoustic guitar, piano, brass, and overheads, the LCT 940 shines whenever a controlled texture is needed. Its 9 polar patterns provide control over proximity, isolation, and ambiance: cardioid for studio vocals, supercardioid to limit bleed, omni to capture the room, and figure-eight for duets or M/S techniques. The built-in high-pass filters help control proximity effect and rumble.
Total Control Over Tone and Signal
Tube + FET: Two Characters, One Microphone
The continuous blend between the Tube section and the FET section allows you to inject more harmonics and warmth or, conversely, maximize transparency and attack. This way, you sculpt the presence of a voice, the air of an acoustic guitar, or the brilliance of a piano without changing microphones.
Remote Control, Optimized Workflow
The backlit control unit allows you to select the polar pattern, adjust sensitivity and frequency response curve, and control the Tube/FET mix-all from the control room. The illuminated overload history warns of subtle clipping and facilitates level setting.
Level and Bass Management
The pre-attenuation offers 0 dB, +6 dB, +12 dB, or +18 dB to push the level ceiling, while the high-pass filters precisely target unwanted frequencies. The result: a clean, controlled, and coherent capture right from the source.

Questions frequently asked
Does the Lewitt LCT 940 allow blending tube and FET sound?
A continuous blend between the 12AX7 tube stage and the FET path allows adjusting the harmonic content or the transparency of the signal. The adjustment is made from the control unit.
What polar patterns are available on this studio microphone?
Nine polar patterns can be selected from the backlit control unit. The cardioid, supercardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-eight configurations notably allow adapting the recording to vocals, duos, or M/S techniques.
What is the maximum sound pressure level it can handle?
The maximum sound pressure level reaches 140 dB without attenuation and up to 161 dB with the +18 dB pad. Four positions are available: 0, +6, +12, and +18 dB.
What high-pass filters are offered?
Four settings are available: flat response, 12 dB/octave at 40 Hz, 6 dB/octave at 150 Hz, and 6 dB/octave at 300 Hz.
What connectivity and dimensions does the LCT 940 have?
The output is via XLR. The microphone measures 192 x 60 x 46 mm and weighs 662 g. Its capsule is a large diaphragm.
