From the iconic "big green" to a MkII tailored for modern rigs
For over 20 years, the DL4 has established itself as a reference: a pedal capable of covering the major delay families (tape echoes, analog delays, digital delays) while remaining immediate to dial in. It already featured nods to legendary machines (like Echoplex, Space Echo, Deluxe Memory Man, Echorec, 2290), as well as notable Line 6 creations such as the Reverse Delay.
The DL4 MkII retains this philosophy and, above all, the same control logic (effect selector, Delay Time, Repeats, Tweak, Tweez, Mix, and footswitches A/B/C + Tap). The result: if you have the muscle memory of the DL4, you'll feel right at home. Except here, everything is taken to the next level: new MkII algorithms, MIDI, USB-C, mic input, extended looper... all in a format easier to integrate on a current pedalboard.
Who is the DL4 MkII for, and in which styles does it make a difference?
The DL4 MkII is aimed both at guitarists wanting a versatile main delay and creative musicians seeking an exploratory instrument (loops, textures, glitches, pitch, Euclidean rhythms). Its straightforward approach suits beginners to advanced players well: you quickly get an inspiring sound, then can push customization very far.
Style-wise, it excels in rock (slapback, solos, stereo ambient), blues (warm tape/analog), pop (dotted eighth, clean patterns), indie and post-rock (layers and soundscapes), and even electronic/experimental music thanks to glitch-type delays and looping possibilities. On stage, its robust footswitches and controllable presets make it a solid ally; in the studio, stereo, tempo precision, and mic input open uses far beyond guitar.

Questions frequently asked
Q: How long can the looper on the Line 6 DL4 MkII record?

Q: What types of delays are included?
A: This pedal features 30 models: 15 inherited from the original DL4 and 15 MkII algorithms from the HX family. Effects include tape echoes, analog delays, Harmony Delay, Pitch Echo, Euclidian Delay, and Glitch Delay.
Q: Can a microphone be connected to this pedal?
A: A dedicated XLR input accepts a dynamic microphone to apply delays and the looper to vocals, beatboxing, or spoken word.
Q: What power supply is required for the DL4 MkII?
A: The required power supply is 9 V DC center negative, via a 2.1 mm connector. A 500 mA source is recommended. Battery operation is not supported.
