A chorus designed from the outset for the Align acoustic range

With the Align Chorus, L.R. Baggs is not trying to impose an electric guitar chorus on an acoustic instrument. The brand designed this model to complement the instrument’s voice with greater width and depth, while keeping the direct signal intact thanks to a dedicated effect path. Within the Align family, it serves as the specialized chorus for acoustic guitarists who want to enrich their sound without veering into intrusive modulation.

Who is the Align Chorus designed for, on stage and in the studio?

This pedal is primarily aimed at acoustic guitarists, from singer-songwriters to regular gigging musicians, who are looking for added dimension without complicating their setup. It works particularly well for open arpeggios, pop-folk accompaniment, worship atmospheres, light ambient textures, or certain acoustic rock settings where the goal is to widen the sonic image without losing pick attack. Its compact format and straightforward ergonomics also make it just as relevant in the studio as it is live or on a small pedalboard dedicated to acoustic guitar.

Intuitive controls for shaping a natural chorus

The interface gets straight to the point. The Chorus knob controls the blend between the processed signal and the direct signal, allowing you to go from a subtle halo to a much more pronounced modulation. The Size control blends two chorus voicings and creates the sensation of gradually widening the performance, almost as if several instruments were doubling the guitar. The Tone control affects the color of the chorus itself, from softer to brighter, without altering the instrument’s fundamental tone. Finally, the Volume control helps maintain a consistent level between the engaged and bypassed sounds.

In terms of connectivity, the Align Chorus features an unbalanced mono instrument input on a 6.35 mm jack, an unbalanced line output on a 6.35 mm jack, and an activation footswitch with true bypass. The standard power supply confirmed by L.R. Baggs is a 9V battery or a 9V DC power supply, with a voltage range of 7.5VDC to 12VDC and a recommended power supply of at least 100 mA. Some commercial listings also mention compatibility with 48V phantom power in specific configurations.

The sound

The strength of this pedal lies in its measured, elegant approach to chorus. It delivers a broad, airy and exceptionally clean modulation that thickens chords without creating the excessive “floating” sensation that some chorus pedals impose immediately. The sound remains lively under the fingers, with clear attack definition and a beautiful sense of space on both open strings and fingerpicking. On Equipboard, this model appears mainly in rock, pop, indie rock, electropop and ambient applications, confirming that it can go well beyond the traditional folk setting while remaining convincing on an acoustic guitar.
