An LR Baggs Sensor Designed for the Mandolin... and Beyond
The LR Baggs Radius Mandolin is designed to capture the vibration of the soundboard with high fidelity. Developed for the mandolin, it can also be suitable for a violin or any instrument with similar frequency ranges when you seek a natural sound, usable both on stage and in the studio, without the "piezo" sound sensation.
Who Is the Radius Mandolin For?
This instrument microphone is aimed at mandolin players who want to preserve the acoustic character of their playing, even in amplified contexts. Thanks to its high output level, it is suitable for simple setups (instrument to acoustic amplifier) as well as more complex rigs. If you choose to add a preamp, LR Baggs recommends using the brand's Para Acoustic D.I.
Natural Dynamic Response and Adaptable Installation
At the heart of the system is a rocker using a 0.01mm thick sensor film, similar to that of a microphone, suspended between 2 neodymium magnets. This design allows immediate response to the slightest nuance while gradually damping the sensor to follow the instrument's dynamics organically. Unlike many sensors, the Radius can be placed in multiple locations on the instrument without losing performance, facilitating sound adjustment according to your mandolin and playing style.
