A modern interpretation of "vintage" delays, in a high-end Handwired version

The Deep Blue Delay is known for its ability to deliver a warm and musical echo without unnecessary complexity. Here, the philosophy remains the same: a mastered digital base combined with an analog dry path and carefully tuned filtering on the repeats to evoke the behavior of tape delays and analog circuits.

The HW (Handwired) version takes the boutique approach further, with reinforced construction and quality components, designed for pedalboards that see frequent use, both in the studio and on stage.

For which guitarists and contexts?

The Deep Blue Delay HW is aimed at guitarists who want a musical and easy-to-use delay : no menus, no tap tempo, just the right echo in the right place. It excels in blues, rock, pop, indie, country, and also works very well to thicken a more saturated tone without muddying the attack.

Designed to be comfortable with both clean and distorted sounds, it can be placed before or after an overdrive/distortion, in front of the amp or in the effects loop. It's an ideal pedal if you're looking for an "always on" delay to add space, or a quick slapback to energize a riff.

Controls, behavior, and design: efficiency above all

The controls are deliberately straightforward. Level adjusts the volume of the repeats in the mix: fully counterclockwise, you remain 100% dry. Delay covers a very practical range from 25 ms to 450 ms, perfect for slapback, doubling, simple rhythmic echoes, and short ambiances. Repeat sets the number of repeats, from a single bounce up to self-oscillation (infinite feedback).

The circuit does not rely on noise reduction: the result is a more natural decay of repeats, with a musical fade-out. The repeats benefit from tailored filtering to maintain a coherent sound even with extreme settings, without interference or "muddiness" in the low end.

For pedalboard integration: true bypass, robust format, top-mounted jacks to save space, and standard DC power supply (2.1 mm connector, center negative) with reverse polarity protection.

Sound

The Deep Blue Delay HW is designed to blend into your sound rather than dominate it. The repeats have a warmth and roundness reminiscent of tape machines: the echo naturally sits behind the note, allowing the attack and dynamics of your playing to breathe.

On a short setting, it delivers a tight, very "studio" slapback, perfect for thickening a rhythm part. Increasing the time and feedback yields a more enveloping delay, ideal for expressive lead lines, airy arpeggios, and short ambient textures. Even with a lot of Repeat, the voicing of the repeats helps maintain clarity.
