Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

The Meinl Pure Alloy series is positioned as a more "classic" alternative in terms of aesthetics and sound, designed for clarity, projection, and versatility. It fits within the Meinl universe as a family of cymbals capable of covering live and studio contexts, with a modern, consistent, and easily usable signature, while maintaining warm musicality.

Who This Drum/Instrument Is For

This 22-inch Medium Crash is aimed at intermediate to advanced drummers seeking an expressive main cymbal, capable of marking choruses, expanding a groove, and supporting playing without saturating the space. It is particularly suitable for rock, pop, fusion, RNB, reggae genres and studio situations, where a clear attack and musical sustain at controlled volume are expected.

Features and Innovations

The core of this Pure Alloy lies in computerized hammering shaping, which provides a homogeneous and predictable response, highly appreciated when maintaining reference points from one cymbal to another. The fully lathed surface and the " Pinpoint " lathing type contribute to a quick feel and even harmonic dispersion. In Medium weight, the cymbal retains body under the stick and handles dynamics well, while remaining flexible enough to open easily with a shoulder strike.

Sound Characteristics

At 22 inches, this crash delivers a wide opening with a more developed "wash" sensation than smaller diameters, while maintaining a clear attack and a sound usable at low to medium intensity. Its tone is medium-dark with a shimmering clarity : it offers controlled brightness without excessive aggressiveness, and a nice presence in the upper spectrum.

The Medium weight favors a good compromise between definition and sustain : the cymbal opens with authority, then remains musical with a generally medium to medium-long decay depending on the strike. In practice, it can also be used occasionally as a " crash-ride ": edge playing to thicken choruses, or broad patterns when you want to widen the sound without changing cymbals.
