A Denner Designed for Excellence: The Mollenhauer Signature

Within the Mollenhauer range, the Denner stands out with a decidedly high-end approach, aimed at musicians seeking an instrument with character, crafted patiently. The manufacturing process relies on artisanal work where each recorder is monitored over time, alternating periods of playing and adjustment phases to optimize the instrument's overall stability and balance.

The choice of boxwood reinforces this positioning: a hard, aesthetic, and durable wood rediscovered for its musical qualities, offering a silky touch and a naturally decorative visual presence.

For Which Musician and Styles?

This soprano recorder is primarily intended for advanced musicians, discerning amateurs, and soloists who desire precise response and an instrument capable of delivering finely articulated musical phrasing. The Baroque fingering (the current standard in conservatories and early music) facilitates comfortable voice leading and controlled intonation in accidentals.

It is particularly at ease in Baroque music and historical repertoires (tuned to 415 Hz ), in chamber music, and solo playing, where dynamic range and intonation stability make the difference.

Sound and Design

The Mollenhauer Denner is described as having a strong and varied sound, with assertive projection and a flexible response : note attacks remain easy while maintaining a clear tonal center. The stable intonation supports expressive playing, with appreciable homogeneity across registers.

The boxwood, a hard wood with fine pores, contributes to a bright and well-centered tonal color. Ergonomically, the deeply cut finger holes improve finger guidance, the double hole (for certain low notes) refines intonation and facilitates more precise fingerings, while the ringed thumb hole and the rounded and polished beak reflect a finish oriented towards comfort and durability. The threaded joints complete the ensemble with a traditional fit.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the performance and longevity of a wooden recorder, it is advisable to have a swab suitable for soprano recorders (for moisture removal after playing) as well as joint grease to keep the assembly smooth and consistent. A case/cover is also recommended for daily transport and protection.
