A "modern" soprano born from research on harmonic recorders

The Modern series is part of a development approach around so-called "harmonic" recorders, resulting from a collaboration between flutist Nik Tarasov and maker Joachim Paetzold. The goal: to surpass the usual limits of the traditional recorder by promoting pure harmonics and a long bore, in order to achieve better tuning and a stronger projection, including in extended registers. In this logic, the Modern Soprano offers a more stable and more "musical" soprano to explore a wider repertoire.

For which musicians and styles?

This soprano recorder is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced musicians who want an expressive, precise instrument capable of going beyond a standard soprano. It is particularly suited to contemporary repertoires, demanding early music ensembles, as well as ensemble projects where note holding, tuning, and projection are crucial. Its balance in the upper register also makes it very interesting for solo playing, with more comfortable sound production when ascending in register.

Sound and design

Made of pearwood, the Modern Soprano delivers a warm and homogeneous timbre, with a characteristic "full" sound sensation. The "harmonic"-oriented design and the long bore contribute to better stability and a more consistent response between low, middle, and high registers, while maintaining good presence. The B footjoint (lower extension) contributes to a more settled and balanced sound across the entire tessitura, and the triple key B/C/C# provides a real advantage in precision and comfort on the affected fingerings, especially in fast or demanding passages.

Another very useful technical feature for daily use: the SYNPOR stopper, a microporous synthetic material designed to absorb moisture from breath. The benefit is twofold: better playing consistency and dimensional stability, as it does not swell like some materials after prolonged use.

Recommended compatible accessories

Your recorder is delivered with a case and essential maintenance items. To preserve response and playing hygiene, a cleaning swab suitable for soprano recorders and a joint grease of the same type as the one provided remain the most relevant daily complements.
