A Modern Approach to Modulation: Versatility and Instant Control

Modulation is an essential effect on any pedalboard: it adds movement to the sound, thickens a rhythm, brings width to an arpeggio, and transforms a pad into a living texture. The MOD FACTORY MKII follows this tradition by offering a digital platform designed to quickly switch from one tone to another without multiplying pedals. With its 11 algorithms, it aims for a clear goal: to provide a palette of modulations usable daily while maintaining simple and musical control.

The major asset of this MKII version is the concept of a "modulation box" capable of meeting common needs (clean sounds, crunch, distortion) as well as more creative explorations. Whether in rehearsal, studio, or live settings, it allows maintaining consistent levels and operation while easily varying the mood from one song to another.

Who the MOD FACTORY MKII Makes a Difference For, and in Which Styles

This pedal is aimed at guitarists (or bassists depending on the setup) who want multiple modulations in a single format : ideal if you lack space on your pedalboard, play in a band with a varied repertoire, or seek a sound exploration tool without locking yourself into a single effect type.

In pop, funk, indie, rock, blues, it serves to lay down a light modulation that "breathes" behind the rhythm, energize a verse, or widen a clean tone. In alternative rock, post-rock, ambient, the serial/parallel routing and tempo functions encourage deeper textures, slow movements, and expressive transitions. Live, the Tap Tempo is especially handy for locking modulation speed to the drummer's tempo without fine-tuning to the millisecond.

Key Features: Routing, Tempo, and Expressive Variations

The MOD FACTORY MKII is based on a digital architecture offering 11 modulation algorithms. The advantage is being able to switch from one effect to another depending on the song, amp, or guitar, while maintaining a consistent usage logic. Whether you seek a gentle modulation to thicken a clean sound or a more pronounced modulation to highlight a part, you have the same "control center."

Internal serial or parallel routing opens two very different approaches: in series, modulations stack for a denser, more transformative result; in parallel, they blend more, helping to preserve definition and a clear attack, especially on chords or fast passages. The Tap Tempo function allows adjusting speed by ear, while the Acceleration function adds a lively behavior, with speed variations that can create a sense of "rising," boost, or transition, particularly effective between two sections.

Regarding integration, the true bypass is a real plus for preserving the tone when the effect is off, especially if you use the pedal as a "spot color" in the middle of an already loaded chain. The metal enclosure ensures good resistance to transport and pedalboard changes.

Sound Character

The MOD FACTORY MKII's signature lies in precise and stable modulation, with a digital approach that favors clarity and repeatability of settings. Movements can remain very subtle (just enough to bring life to a clean tone) or become more present to create an immediately recognizable effect in the mix. The perceived dynamics will depend greatly on your settings and placement in the chain: before distortion, modulation may sound more "nervous" and textured; after distortion, it tends to add more width and depth. Thanks to Tap Tempo, you can also achieve well-locked modulations, which helps maintain a clean sound in a band context.
