The Miniature Clip Mic System: a Neumann Reference for Acoustic Instruments

The Neumann MCM 114 SET GUITAR is part of the MCM (Miniature Clip Mic) range, designed to bring a studio sound signature to live sound reinforcement of acoustic instruments. The goal is clear: to surpass the usual limitations of miniature electret microphones by combining natural sound, mounting reliability, and consistency from capsule to capsule. The modular philosophy of the MCM series facilitates the replacement of elements (cables, accessories, mounting) and helps maintain system performance over the long term, even with intensive stage use.

Who Is It For and What Is It Used For?

This kit is aimed at guitarists and acoustic instrumentalists who want a discreet and high-performance clip microphone without relying on a static microphone on a stand. It is particularly suitable for situations where sound stability and quick setup are essential: concerts, theater, TV studios, festivals, residencies, or any context where quick soundchecks and stage changes are required.

Thanks to its "close miking" approach, the MCM 114 SET GUITAR helps achieve a usable, precise, and consistent signal while preserving the character of the instrument. It is a relevant solution for demanding musicians, stage managers, and sound engineers seeking clean and repeatable capture from one performance to another.

Design, Assembly, and Performance: The DNA of the MCM 114 SET GUITAR

KK 14 Capsule: Tonal Balance and Consistency

At the heart of the set, the cardioid KK 14 capsule is designed to deliver a neutral "Neumann-type" sound with more body in the lows and low-mids, and beautiful transparency in the highs. Manufacturing consistency aims to guarantee constant behavior between different capsules, saving valuable time during adjustments, especially when multiple microphones are used simultaneously on stage.

With ultra-low self-noise and a very high maximum SPL, the KK 14 is comfortable on both delicate instruments and very dynamic sources. The titanium housing enhances resistance to the stresses of transport and repeated handling.

Quick Assembly and Precise Positioning on the Instrument

The MCM is designed for everyday practicality: reliable attachment, simple handling, and respect for sensitive surfaces. The gooseneck allows precise placement of the capsule, with orientation that adjusts quickly to aim at the instrument's projection area, refine the attack, or control presence depending on the playing style. The locking mechanism in 45-degree increments helps easily restore placement from one date to another.

MCM 100 Output Stage: A High-End Wired Solution

In this set, the MCM 100 output stage enables wired use with 48 V phantom power. It is a simple and robust approach for stage and studio, ideal if you want direct integration on a console via XLR while retaining the ergonomics of a miniature clip microphone.

A Complete Pack Designed for the Stage

The WS 110 windscreen helps reduce air and movement noise. The KC 1 cable reinforcement helps secure the cable routing on the instrument. The set is delivered in a practical soft case to protect the equipment and speed up setup during tours, rehearsals, and performances.
