A "BL Series" that breaks chorus conventions
The BL-82 is part of Old Blood Noise Endeavors' BL series, a family of pedals designed to explore time, modulation, and "limit" behaviors between classic effects. Here, OBNE takes chorus as a starting point... then expands the playground: by moving the clock, you traverse zones evoking chorus, flanger, and modulated delay, with an aesthetic that can remain lush or become rougher and grainier.
Its approach is based on two delay lines modulated by LFOs synchronized in opposition, combined in parallel. The result: a wide, lively modulation with a "suggested" stereo movement even in mono input/output, and a very musical sense of depth.
Who is it for? From elegant chorus to experimental textures
The BL-82 is aimed both at guitarists (and bassists) seeking an expressive and modern chorus and at enthusiasts of more adventurous textures. In a conservative setting, it delivers warm modulation, ideal for funk, pop, alternative rock, indie, and post-rock. Pushing the "Clock" and Feedback turns it into a true ambiance generator: unstable pads, modulated trails, near-flanger effects, and lo-fi sounds perfect for ambient and experimental music.
In the studio, it shines on overdubs to thicken rhythm parts, "widen" arpeggios, or add life to leads. Live, its direct interface (notably the slider) is designed to be played: you can transform a passage in real time without getting lost in submenus.
Controls and features: minimal ergonomics, maximum playability
The heart of the BL-82 is the tactile "Clock" slider. At one end, you get fast, more faithful modulation, typical of shimmering chorus. As you lower the clock, the system stretches: the sound slows down, becomes more unstable, with intentional degradation that can add character and grain.
The Feedback knob both intensifies the chorus effect and increases the number of repeats when the pedal shifts toward modulated delay behavior. The Mix controls the wet/dry blend (from very subtle to very prominent), and the Volume aligns the output level with your clean signal (or slightly pushes the amp/next stage). The soft-touch footswitch offers comfortable and silent engagement, with true bypass as advertised.
Sound
The BL-82 is not content with a "clean" chorus: it can be lush and wide, but also darker and rougher depending on the clock position. The modulation movements have real personality: the high end can shimmer, the mids gain a very flattering thickness, and extreme settings open the door to degraded, almost unstable textures that make the effect feel like it "breathes" with your playing.
It responds particularly well to right-hand dynamics: in picking, modulations remain clear and detailed; in open chords, the effect creates immersive depth; with saturated tones, the chorus can become more edgy and organic, with a sense of movement that helps the sound cut through the mix without excess.

Questions frequently asked
How does the Clock slider affect the sound of the BL-82 Chorus?
The touch-sensitive Clock slider shifts the modulation from a fast, shimmering chorus to slower, unstable, and grainy behaviors. The Feedback control then intensifies the chorus effect or increases the number of repeats in the modulated delay textures.
Is the BL-82 suitable for both guitar and bass?
Designed for guitarists and bassists, this pedal accepts a 6.35 mm jack input and provides an output of the same type. Open chords, picking techniques, and distorted sounds can all benefit from its two parallel modulated delay lines.
What power supply is required for the Old Blood Noise Endeavors BL-82 Chorus?
The required power supply is 9 V DC center negative via a 2.1 mm jack connector. No power adapter is included, and battery operation is not supported. The stated current consumption is 110 mA.
Does the BL-82 operate in mono?
Mono connections use a single 6.35 mm jack input and output, while the two opposing LFOs create a suggested stereo movement effect.
Does the BL-82 take up much space on a pedalboard?
With dimensions of 66 x 120 x 58 mm, the size remains compact. The soft-touch footswitch is paired with a true bypass feature.
