Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
First launched in 1982, the Pearl Export established itself as a reliable choice for entering the acoustic drum world with a dependable, upgradeable, and musical instrument. This 22" configuration edition retains the Export spirit: a kit designed for learning, rehearsing, and playing in a band, with a complete formula that limits additional purchases thanks to the HWP-834 hardware pack and included cymbals. Within the Pearl range, the Export is positioned as a "premium beginner" choice: accessible, robust, and sufficiently performant to support progression over several years.
Who This Drum Kit Is For
The 22" Pearl Export primarily targets beginner drummers who want to start on a real acoustic kit, but also intermediate players looking for a complete drum set for lessons, rehearsals, and first gigs. Its 22" bass drum offers a familiar feel and comfortable projection in a group, while the toms and floor tom allow building effective grooves, from simple rhythms to more pronounced breaks. It adapts very well to styles where energy and clarity are key (rock, pop, funk, variety), while remaining easy to control at moderate volume with good tuning.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Pearl Export standard 22" Midnight Blue suitable for beginner drummers?
This model is designed for beginner and intermediate drummers, featuring a complete setup including HWP-834 hardware and Sabian cymbals. The 6-ply poplar shells offer a forgiving response, useful for working on tuning and dynamics. The 22" x 18" bass drum provides a presence well-suited for band rehearsals.
What are the sizes of the shells on this Pearl Export drum kit?
The configuration includes a 22" x 18" bass drum, a 14" x 5.5" snare drum, 10" x 7" and 12" x 8" toms, and a 16" x 16" floor tom.
Are the cymbals and bass drum pedal included?
A Sabian cymbal pack including hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbals is provided, along with HWP-834 hardware and a Pearl Demonator pedal.
What sound do the 6-ply poplar shells produce?
The 6-ply poplar shells produce a warm, round tone with a clear attack. The harmonics remain easy to control when tuning.
What is the purpose of the OptiLoc system on the toms?
The OptiLoc suspension system reduces stress applied to the shells. This allows the 10" and 12" toms to resonate more freely and sustain notes longer.
