An "HP" Designed as a Signature: The Hartley Peavey Spirit

Since the brand's creation in 1965 by Hartley Peavey, Peavey has developed a performance- and reliability-focused approach. The HP 2 fits this logic: an electric guitar with a bold design, crafted with lutherie and electronics choices aimed at the stage, bearing the initials "HP" as a direct nod to the company's DNA. Between meticulous finishes, renowned components, and modern ergonomics, the HP 2 clearly targets the demanding guitarist who wants an instrument ready to take on the rigors of playing.

For Whom and For What: Heavy Rock, Metal, Fusion, and Modern Playing

The Peavey HP 2 is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a responsive, stable, and versatile guitar. The Peavey/Floyd Rose licensed Floyd vibrato encourages expressive playing (wide vibratos, Van Halen-style effects, harmonics, and extreme dive bombs), while the push-pulls provide access to finer textures in coil split for funk-rock, edgy pop, or clearer arpeggios. If you are a beginner, it remains playable, but its double locking vibrato requires some familiarity (setup, string changes, vibrato balance).

Sound

The combination of a basswood body and a flamed maple top (with Poplar Burl aesthetic) promotes a very "modern" balance: present mids and quick response from the basswood, complemented by the attack and definition of the maple. The two Peavey custom-wound humbuckers are designed to deliver a solid output level and a consistent tonal response, operating with low noise thanks to a two-step wax potting process. Mounted directly into the body, they gain impact and help limit feedback at high volume. The electronics enhance versatility: a Switchcraft 3-position selector for classic neck/both/bridge settings, and two push-pulls (volume and tone) to split each pickup individually, shifting from thick, saturated tones to clearer, more incisive sounds.
