Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The Emperor series has established itself as a reference for drummers seeking more control and durability than a single-ply head, while maintaining a musical response. In 24" diameter, it is particularly suited for vintage or modern setups focused on a "big sound."
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
This head is suitable for drummers from beginner to advanced levels who want a bass drum that is easier to control, with fewer unwanted vibrations. It performs especially well in styles where a solid low end and clear attack are expected, even without much treatment.
Features and Innovations
The double-ply construction provides better impact resistance and appreciable tuning stability. The smooth surface promotes a crisp attack and clean definition, while allowing enough depth for a full low register.
Sound Characteristics
On a 24" bass drum, this Emperor smooth white head tends to enhance the sense of "punch" and round out the sustain. The result: a substantial low end, solid projection, and natural control that facilitates dialing in a modern or more open "kick" sound depending on tuning and damping.
