Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The Sub Muffl positions itself as a simple and effective external damping solution for bass drums, designed to achieve a more controlled sound without resorting to internal pillows or tedious adjustments. Its "external floating" approach primarily aims for quick setup and consistent sound from one stage to another.
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
The Sub Muffl is suitable for beginner to advanced drummers seeking a cleaner and more defined bass drum sound in the mix. It is particularly adapted to pop, rock, funk, gospel, modern metal, and contemporary music contexts, wherever one wants to limit harmonics while retaining body.
Features and Innovations
Thanks to its external structure combining a plastic profile and shock-absorbing foam inserts, the Sub Muffl acts directly on the drumhead without excessively muffling it. The floating principle allows the head to remain fully seated on the shell's bearing edge, providing controlled damping that is quick to install and stable during play.
Sound
The Sub Muffl promotes a denser low end with a sensation of additional subsonic bass, while enhancing the bass drum's attack. The result remains natural because the head maintains full contact with the shell, helping to preserve the instrument's personality while reducing unwanted harmonics, both in the studio and on stage.
