An "amp-in-a-box" directly derived from the Generator 120
The Revv G3 v2 is part of the G series: fully analog recreations of the Generator 120 channels, designed to capture the feel of a modern amp... in pedal format. This v2 version benefits from circuit revisions developed over many years, offering a more organic feel and a more natural response under the fingers. Based on the "Purple" channel, the G3 v2 focuses on a clear high gain with present mids, very controlled attack, and thicker lows thanks to the improved circuit.
Who is it for, and which styles?
The G3 v2 is aimed at guitarists who want a modern distortion capable of remaining clear in rhythm playing while retaining sustain for leads. It excels in modern rock, hard rock, and metal, but can also cover more expressive mid-gain territories thanks to its Aggression selector. On stage, it integrates easily on a pedalboard to "beef up" a clean channel, and in the studio, it becomes an effective solution for achieving coherent, precise saturation that is easy to place in a mix.
Settings, modes, and chain behavior
At the heart of the Revv G3 v2 is the 3-position Aggression selector. It can be thought of as three saturation levels (Off for the most moderate, Blue for a compromise, Red for the most intense), but its interest goes further: each position actually adjusts the pedal's voicing and response. The Red mode is ideal for smooth, dense, and satisfying distortion, while the Off mode opens up a surprisingly wide palette of mid-gain tones that are more touch- and volume-sensitive. Regarding integration, it works perfectly in front of an amp as the main distortion and can also be used in the effects loop as a preamp to drive the power stage directly.
The sound
The G3 v2's sonic signature is a very defined high gain: chords remain articulated, the attack is sharp, and the response is fast, delivering a "modern" and controlled feel. The mids are emphasized tightly to help the guitar cut through the mix without becoming harsh, and the lows gain thickness while staying controlled. The result is a distortion that retains clarity and punch, with a dynamic response reactive enough to vary saturation through your playing and guitar volume, especially in the tamer modes.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Revv G3 V2 suitable for metal and hard rock?
Based on the "Purple" channel of the Generator 120, this pedal offers defined high gain, with present mids and controlled attack. It is recommended for modern rock, hard rock, and metal.
How does the 3-position Aggression switch work?
The Aggression switch offers Off, Blue, and Red positions, which alter the saturation level, voicing, and response. The Red mode delivers dense saturation, while the Off mode favors mid-gain tones sensitive to touch and guitar volume.
Can it be used in an amplifier's effects loop?
It can be used in the effects loop as a preamp to drive the power section of the amplifier directly.
What power supply is required for this pedal?
The required power supply is 9 V DC, with a stated consumption of 14 mA. The recommended power source type is mains.
What equalization settings are available?
The equalization is based on 3 bands. This configuration allows adjusting the distortion's response, which emphasizes tight mids and thick lows.
