Generator MKIII: the "pro" evolution of the high-gain Revv
The Revv Generator 100P MKIII follows the tradition of Canadian heads built around a simple idea: putting the sound front and center, without compromising precision. This MKIII version takes the Generator series philosophy further with a more "studio-ready" approach thanks to integrated stereo Torpedo, while refining ergonomics and midrange sculpting on the gain channels.
The Purple High Gain channel, known for its clarity in modern saturations, gains a Cut selector to adjust midrange behavior. Meanwhile, the Crunch (Green) channel benefits from a more flexible section to multiply tonal colors and fit more easily into a mix, from punchy rock rhythms to more open metal textures.
For whom and in which contexts?
This head is aimed at intermediate to professional guitarists who want a high-gain platform usable everywhere: rehearsal, studio, home studio, and touring. With its switchable power of 120 Watts / 10 Watts, the Generator 100P MKIII remains coherent at stage volume while becoming easier to tame at home or in the booth.
It excels in styles demanding a firm attack and controlled low end: modern metal, progressive metal, metalcore, hard rock, but also alternative rock when a precise crunch and robust clean are sought. The stereo direct outputs and automatic internal load make it a very relevant choice for those who often record "on the fly," without relying on a cabinet.
Channels, controls, and onboard technologies
The Generator 100P MKIII offers 3 channels (Clean, Crunch, and Purple High Gain) with a decidedly "mix-friendly" approach: each channel has its own 3-band EQ, allowing seamless switching between tones without compromise. The signature voicing selectors Wide, Drive, and Aggression serve to fine-tune character and response to adapt to guitars, pickups, and tunings.
For further shaping, there are Presence and Depth controls to adjust the brightness and low-end foundation in a cabinet, as well as a Bright switch available on all channels. The two overdrive channels additionally feature Cut selectors (for brighter or scooped saturation) and Fat selectors (to thicken high-gain tones). Finally, the head integrates an adjustable noise gate and a digital reverb whose settings can be saved per channel, convenient for maintaining consistency between tight rhythms and more spacious leads.
The major "next-generation" highlight remains the Torpedo (Two notes) section: a virtual cabinet selector and stereo XLR outputs allow direct connection to a console or interface, with an integrated reactive loadbox. And if no speaker is detected, the internal load automatically engages, securing use without a cabinet.
The sound
Fully tube-based (preamp 12AX7 and power 6L6 ), the Generator 100P MKIII delivers a "modern"-styled grain: fast attack, well-controlled low end, defined highs, and saturation that remains articulate when stacking palm mutes, dense chords, and effects. The clean is solid and pedal-friendly, the crunch ranges from rock bite to thicker saturation, and the Purple channel targets high-gain precision with an ideal sense of control for rhythmic playing.
Thanks to the dual footswitchable Master, you can easily manage two volume levels (rhythm / solo) without changing your gain. The reverb adds the necessary space for leads and atmospheres, while the noise gate helps keep stops clean and silence pure, especially appreciated at high gain levels.

Questions frequently asked
Can the Revv Generator 100P MK3 be used without a speaker cabinet?
The Torpedo Two Notes section includes a reactive load box and stereo XLR outputs. When no speaker is detected, the internal load automatically activates. The signal can be sent directly to a mixing console or audio interface.
What power settings are suitable for rehearsal and home studio?
The power is switchable between 120 W and 10 W, allowing adjustment of the volume level to different contexts. A footswitchable dual Master enables memorizing two volume levels, for example for rhythm parts and solos.
How many channels and what sounds does this Revv head offer?
Three channels are available: Clean, Crunch, and Purple High Gain, each with a dedicated 3-band EQ.
What tubes are used in the amp?
The preamp stage uses 5 ECC83/12AX7 tubes, while the power stage relies on 4 6L6CG tubes. This architecture provides a modern tone with fast attack and controlled lows.
How to adjust the mids and thickness of the overdrive?
On the Crunch and Purple High Gain channels, the Cut switches modify midrange behavior and the Fat switch thickens the distorted sounds. The Presence and Depth controls adjust the brightness of the highs and the low-end foundation respectively.
