A Highly Anticipated Format in the Revv Universe
With the Generator G50, Revv concentrates the DNA of its high-gain heads into a more compact and accessible 50-watt format, without sacrificing the "all-tube" feel. The idea is simple: to retain the effectiveness of the Blue/Green/Purple channels, with ergonomics designed for today's guitarists (two masters, gate, reverb) and direct studio/FOH integration thanks to Two notes Torpedo technology.
Who Is It For, and In What Contexts?
The G50 is aimed at the intermediate to pro guitarist who wants a versatile tube head capable of handling rehearsals, studio, and stage without multiplying gear. At 10 watts, it becomes credible for working on saturated tones at home (with the headphone output if needed); at 50 watts, it retains the attack and headroom necessary for energetic drums and live performances.
In terms of styles, it naturally excels in modern rock, hard rock, and metal (from tight riffs to singing leads), while remaining very convincing for wide cleans and punchy crunches as soon as you play with the guitar volume and pick dynamics.
Channels, Voicings, and Control: A Head Designed for Modern Playing
The preamp section offers three clearly identified channels. The Blue targets articulated cleans with a Wide voicing to broaden the image and feel. The Green delivers crunch and drive with 3 Drive voicings to go from biting grit to denser saturation. The Purple, the heart of the concept, pushes gain further with 3 Aggression voicings and Cut and Fat switches to adjust presence in the mix and low-end foundation.
To shape the sound, the amp combines a shared 3-band EQ for Blue and Green (perfect for maintaining clean/crunch coherence) and an independent 3-band EQ for Purple, designed to optimize high-gain rhythms and solos. Each channel also has its own Bright control. Two Master Volume knobs allow instant volume boosting, complemented by global Presence and Depth controls to adapt the amp to your cabinet, room, or recording environment.
Finally, the digital reverb (level control at the rear) and the built-in noise gate (threshold control at the rear) provide the necessary comfort for a clean and silent high-gain rig without adding weight to your pedal chain.
The Sound
The Revv Generator G50 is an EL34 tube head (2 power tubes, 4 x 12AX7 preamp tubes) with a decidedly modern character: tight low end, present mids, and precise upper mids to bring out the attack. The Blue channel favors clarity and definition, with a nice headroom reserve depending on your pickups' output level. The Green offers a crunch that remains clear in standard tuning as well as lower tunings, and responds very well to upstream boosts/overdrives. The Purple delivers dense and cutting saturation, with the natural compression expected from a tube circuit, ideal for tight palm mutes and sustained leads.
The Two notes Torpedo section adds a very "production" dimension: when playing direct, you keep the amp feel thanks to the reactive load, while obtaining a coherent and immediately usable cabinet sound, whether through headphones, audio interface, or front of house.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Revv Generator G50 suitable for playing at home?
The 10 W mode allows for working on distortion levels more appropriate for home use. A headphone output and Two Notes' Torpedo technology enable speakerless operation via cab simulation.
What channels and tones does the G50 offer?
The three channels Blue, Green, and Purple cover clean, crunch, and high-gain sounds respectively. The Purple channel features three Aggression voicings, as well as Cut and Fat switches to adjust the midrange presence and the low-end foundation.
Can the G50 be recorded directly without a speaker cabinet?
Two Notes' Torpedo technology includes a reactive load and cab simulation for direct recording. The signal can be used with headphones, an audio interface, or sent to the front of house. Digital reverb is also integrated, with an adjustable level at the rear.
What power and tubes does this Revv head use?
This head delivers 50 W and offers a 10 W mode. The power stage uses 2 EL34 tubes, while the preamp section employs 4 12AX7 tubes.
Does the G50 have an effects loop and noise gate?
An effects loop is present for integrating modulation pedals, delay, or external reverb. A built-in noise gate, adjustable via its threshold control at the rear, helps manage noise on high-gain settings.
