Keyboard Design

The Roland V-STAGE features a 76-key weighted keyboard aiming for an effective compromise between piano control and stage agility. The hammer action provides a more natural response to dynamics, while the semi-weighted touch maintains the speed necessary for organ, funk, or rhythmic synth parts. The "waterfall" key profile (rounded edges) facilitates glissandos and organ articulation, and the channel aftertouch adds an instant layer of expression (opening a filter, intensifying vibrato, pushing saturation) without interrupting playing.

Sound Quality

The sound design relies on 4 complementary engines to cover the essentials for the stage keyboardist, with a coherent playing logic from one section to another. The V-Piano engine is based on advanced digital modeling, featuring 2 grand pianos, 1 upright piano, and 1 felt model for softer, more intimate tones. The SuperNATURAL engine is dedicated to electric pianos in the style of Rhodes, Wurlitzer, or Clavinet, with nuanced response and settings designed for quickly finding the right character. For organ sounds, Virtual Tone Wheel replicates the behavior of a tonewheel generator, including vintage transistor and pipe organ colors, adapted to live constraints.
