An anniversary edition: the Rousseau legacy, JodyJazz craftsmanship

Created to celebrate the anniversary of the Rousseau lineage, the ER50 series marks the arrival of new mouthpiece models after several years without major launches. The ER50 Custom is part of this "new generation": a design inherited from the work of Dr. Eugène Rousseau, combined with manufacturing carried out entirely at JodyJazz in Savannah, Georgia. It features a demanding approach to internal geometry (chamber and baffle) and careful attention to materials, with ebonite designed to serve the beauty of sound and playing comfort.

For which saxophonist? Which styles?

The Rousseau ER50 Custom for alto saxophone is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced saxophonists and professionals who want a feeling of resistance and precision under the breath. Its additional resistance will suit musicians seeking a "settled" emission, clear articulation, and solid mastery of the altissimo, whether in classical, modern jazz, pop, or large ensemble / big band contexts. It is also an excellent choice for soloists who need to maintain a stable and clear sound, even on stage with high volume around them.

Sound and design

The ER50 Custom aims for a warm, focused, and clear sound, with controlled projection and homogeneity designed to remain stable across the entire range. Whereas a longer attack curve often gives a very free blowing impression, the Custom profile offers a more resistant feel, which helps many saxophonists lock articulation, stabilize timbre, and gain control in the high notes. Its tip opening of 1.63 mm balances flexibility and precision, while the Chedeville ebonite contributes to a comfortable touch and a naturally musical sound aesthetic. The gold-plated brass conical ring on the tenon completes the set by adding a touch of warmth and subtlety to the sound, and the mouthpiece is hand-finished for a more consistent playing feel.

Recommended compatible accessories

The mouthpiece is delivered without ligature or mouthpiece cap : these elements should be purchased separately according to your preferences for tightening and protection.
