The MetroExpress Series: Sadowsky DNA Within Reach
The Sadowsky MetroExpress range was designed to offer the Sadowsky spirit in a more accessible approach, while retaining the brand's key ingredients: ergonomics, stage reliability, and effective electronics. This Modern 24-fret version belongs to the most current segment of the series, featuring performance-oriented luthiery and a pickup/electronics setup tailored for modern sounds that remain clear in the mix.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
This MetroExpress Modern is aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a responsive, precise, and versatile bass, equally comfortable in funk (attack, slap), rock (present low-mids), pop (definition), as well as in more modern metal or contemporary music contexts where clarity in the low end is essential. The 24 frets and access to the high notes encourage melodic lines, solo playing, and parts that climb high up the neck.
Sound Characteristics
The pair of passive Soapbar pickups in modern positions delivers a wide range: solid lows, well-defined mids, and a cleaner, more direct high end, ideal for sharp attacks. The Sadowsky 2-band active preamp (bass/treble boost) allows you to instantly thicken the low end (bass) or open up the sound (treble) without losing clarity. The Volume and Balance controls make it easy to blend neck/bridge pickups, while the push/pull function on the bass knob enables preamp bypass to switch back to passive mode depending on the context.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the most out of this long scale bass, you can opt for a 4-string long scale bass string set (34" / 864 mm), for example using 45-105 gauges if you want to stay close to the original setup. A good quality 6.35 mm jack cable is also recommended to preserve the preamp's dynamics and the definition of attacks.

Questions frequently asked
Is this Sadowsky bass available for left-handed players?
This version is designed for left-handed players and features 4 strings on a long scale 34-inch (864 mm) fingerboard. The bolt-on neck has a C profile with a nut width of 39.2 mm.
Can the bass be used in passive mode?
The Bass knob includes a dedicated push/pull function to bypass the preamp. Once the Sadowsky 2-band preamp is disengaged, the two passive Soapbar pickups remain usable. The Volume and Balance controls then allow blending of the neck and bridge pickup positions.
How many frets and what access to the high notes?
With 24 nickel silver frets and deep cutaways, access to the upper registers is facilitated for melodic lines and solo playing.
Which strings and accessories are included?
A set of 4-string long scale steel strings, such as a 45-105 gauge, suits the 34-inch scale length; a Sadowsky PortaBag gig bag, a fingerboard protector, and hex keys are included.
What sound do the Soapbar pickups and active preamp offer?
The two passive Sadowsky Soapbar pickups deliver solid lows, defined mids, and a direct attack. The active 2-band preamp provides bass and treble boost, particularly useful in funk, rock, pop, or modern metal.
