A Seymour Duncan reference for amplifying an acoustic guitar without altering its character
The Mag Mic SA-6 (active version) is one of the most appreciated solutions for capturing, in amplification, the full character of a steel-string folk guitar: the precise attack of a soundhole pickup, enriched by an internal microphone that captures the resonance and "breathing" of the body. The result: a sound closer to your guitar, not just your strings.
For guitarists who want a ready-to-play sound, both live and in the studio
Ideal if you alternate strumming, arpeggios, picking, and percussive passages: the magnetic pickup provides excellent definition and dynamic range, while the condenser microphone adds depth and dimension. By adjusting the mix, you can emphasize precision for a band setting or open up the sound for a duo, solo, or a more "studio" direct recording.
Active dual sensor, hum-canceling, and integrated controls
The Mag Mic combines a vertical Stack humbucker (50/60 Hz hum-canceling) and an omnidirectional condenser microphone, all in an easy-to-install soundhole format. Adjustable pole pieces facilitate string-to-string balance, and the active electronics allow connection with a standard instrument cable to an acoustic amplifier, DI box, mixer, or pedalboard. The black finish discreetly blends with most guitars.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Seymour Duncan Mag Mic SA-6 compatible with a folk guitar?
This model is suitable for acoustic steel-string guitars with a soundhole diameter of approximately 95 to 107 mm. It is not suitable for instruments equipped with nylon strings.
What sound does the built-in condenser microphone provide?
The omnidirectional condenser microphone captures the body resonance in addition to the magnetic pickup. The mix control allows adjustment of its presence relative to the strings' sound.
Does the Mag Mic SA-6 eliminate hum?
The Stack double-coil magnetic pickup ensures suppression of 50/60 Hz hum.
How is this active soundhole pickup powered?
The electronics operate with a 9 V battery (not included), providing an approximate continuous use time of 450 hours. A 12 V power supply is also possible using the supplied clips. The total current draw is 1.1 mA.
Is the mounting of the Seymour Duncan Mag Mic permanent?
Two mounting options are provided: a temporary and removable installation, or a permanent mounting with output on the strap end. A fixed cable with a 6.35 mm female jack allows connection to a standard instrument cable.
