From the Original Launcher (2019) to the Deluxe Version: Stereo at Last, with More Freedom

Launched in 2019, the original Launcher charmed users with a simple idea: quickly regain a "vintage" warmth and density on often demanding microphones without multiplying large rack units. The Launcher Deluxe carries forward this philosophy but extends it in a much more modern way for current workflows: two channels to work in stereo, manage two distinct sources, or easily integrate the unit into a recording and mixing chain. Designed for those who already used multiple Launchers (live, overheads, stereo summing, creative experiments), it especially adds a key point: more flexibility thanks to individually selectable modes and a path adapted to both mic level and line level.

Who the Launcher Deluxe Is For: Recording, Live, and "Vibe" Mixing

The Launcher Deluxe is aimed at engineers, home studio users, and artists who want an immediate stereo color without relying on a single console preamp or a complex chain. It is a natural ally for ribbon and dynamic microphones when you need to gain presence and level while maintaining an organic feel. In practice, it also integrates very well on stereo sources (keyboards, drum machines, effects outputs), room mics, overheads, or live captures where you want to widen the image and enhance the texture.

In mixing, its usefulness is just as clear: rather than only correcting with EQ, you can thicken and texture an overly clean track, add depth to a stereo bus, or give a more "recorded" grain to direct takes. The approach is simple: choose the mode, adjust the level upstream/downstream, then dose the amount of character depending on the signal and desired aesthetic.

Two Paths, Two Modes: Gain, Saturation, and Character Control

An Architecture Designed for Mic and Line Levels

The Launcher Deluxe features two distinct signal paths to properly handle both mic and line signals. This separation allows the unit to be used in various contexts: boosting a low-level mic or, conversely, processing an already strong signal (active mic, preamp output, instrument via an adapted chain, external processor, etc.) while seeking elegant saturation and coherence across two channels.

Launcher Mode: Gain and a True Personality

In Launcher mode, the unit provides up to 26 dB of gain and a deliberately non-neutral coloration. The goal is not transparency: it is a solution to achieve more density, a sense of proximity, and a "weight" feeling in the low-midrange, while keeping an exploitable attack. The result is also controlled by how you "drive" the next stage: the more you push it, the more obvious the signature becomes.

Saturate Mode: Texture Without Amplification

The Saturate mode allows you to bypass amplification and focus on texture: ideal when the level is already sufficient but the source lacks character, or when you want to enrich a stereo pair without altering the overall balance. This is particularly relevant to "spice up" a source that is too clinical, give a livelier feel to a direct signal, or add a slight perceived harmonic compression that helps a sound settle in a mix.

Toroidal Transformers: Stereo Coherence Serving the Grain

Each channel includes two custom toroidal transformers (for a total of 4) paired with the same analog circuit spirit that made the original Launcher famous. The transformers contribute to the sense of texture and how transients and harmonics reorganize, which is crucial when working in stereo: the image remains stable but gains depth and impact. The result: a confident color, with musical saturation that can stay subtle or become more pronounced depending on the level sent and the context.
