A Modern "Echo Machine" Approach in the Strymon Range
Volante captures the spirit of classic magnetic echoes and translates it into a pedal format designed for today's musician. Every detail of the tape and mechanical behavior is dedicated to the playing feel: smooth feedback, grain, natural compression, and retro character. The result: a pedal that doesn't just repeat but truly extends your instrument in space.
For Whom, Which Styles, and In What Contexts?
The Strymon Volante is aimed at guitarists (and instrumentalists in general) seeking an inspiring delay capable of being both a simple vintage slapback and a texture machine. Perfect for rock, indie, blues, post-rock, and ambient, it shines live thanks to its foot controls and in the studio for sculpting detailed stereo echoes. On a pedalboard, it can become the center of gravity: rhythms, atmospheres, infinite repeats, and expressive transitions.
Controls, Modes, and Connectivity: A Pedal Designed Like an Instrument
At the heart of Volante: 4 playback heads with individual feedback, pan, and level controls to shape your patterns in real time. The "media" controls (Low Cut, mechanical, wear) shape the aging, stability, and color of the delay, while the recording level allows you to go from clean reproduction to thicker saturation. You also have a Sound on Sound (mono) mode with inversion, pause, cut, and infinite repeat functions, as well as a dedicated spring reverb. For integration: expression input, full MIDI, USB for MIDI control via computer, and an input level selector for instrument/line signals.
Sound Character
Volante stands out with an organic feel: the feedback remains musical, dynamics respond to touch, and grain naturally appears when pushing the level. Repeats can be wide and airy in stereo or become denser, almost "reverberant," thanks to the multi-heads and spring reverb. With its analog dry path without latency, your attack stays immediate while echoes envelop the playing with inspiring vintage depth.
