Toontrack Stockholm SDX is designed to provide your productions with a credible, modern acoustic drum kit that is immediately usable in contexts of current Pop, Rock, and many related aesthetics (indie, alternative, singer-songwriter, organic electro-pop, etc.). The goal is clear: to offer drum sounds capable of quickly fitting into an arrangement while maintaining natural dynamics and a solid stereo image.

Whether you program your parts with a mouse, play via a pad/electronic drum kit, or assemble performances from MIDI grooves, this SDX emphasizes musicality and versatility: from warm and earthy textures to brighter, powerful, and vibrant attacks, without losing the acoustic character.

Main Features

A Studio with a Unique Character, Captured for Mixing

The Stockholm SDX was recorded at Riksmixningsverket (RMV studio), located in a former naval warehouse. Its architecture and materials greatly contribute to the sonic signature: ceiling beams that break diffusion, varied reflective surfaces, and a softer wooden floor acting as natural damping. The result: a room spacious enough to provide air, yet compact enough to retain impact and precision.

5 Complementary Drum Kits, a Complete Palette of Textures

Five kits were selected to complement rather than repeat each other, covering a wide palette of colors: from clean and organic sounds to more bright and powerful drums for productions that require punch. The numerous options for kick drums, snares, and cymbals allow you to quickly refine the response (attack, sustain, presence) depending on the arrangement, the density of guitars/synths, and the space you want to leave for vocals.

Stereo Image and Depth: Additional Ambience Microphones

To sculpt depth and realism, the library includes 4 additional ambience microphones. This facilitates achieving a stable stereo image, a sense of "real room," and fine control between proximity, width, and natural reverb length. In practice, you can switch from a tight and direct kit to a wider and more enveloping drum sound without relying solely on external effects.

Presets and MIDI Grooves: Faster Creation

The Stockholm SDX provides a large selection of presets designed to be efficient in production, as well as MIDI grooves and fills typical of the genre, recorded individually. This is a real time saver for composing, prototyping an arrangement, or finalizing a session: you start with a coherent sound, then refine it according to your aesthetic (drier, roomier, more aggressive, softer).

Production and Performance

This SDX was produced and recorded by Linn Fijal and Vilma Colling at RMV studio in Stockholm, Sweden, and performed by Josephine Forsman. Particular attention was paid to balancing musicality, dynamics, and clarity, so the drums remain expressive while holding their place in a modern mix.
