What Toontrack SDX Stories Is For

Toontrack SDX Stories is a sound library dedicated to Superior Drummer 3, designed to provide you with drums and percussion that can immediately fit into a production. The goal is clear: to have a very broad palette, ranging from pop/rock drums with a "radio" grain to more cinematic and theatrical textures, suitable for musicals, rich arrangements, and modern orchestrations. Thanks to recordings made in several rooms, you can choose a very present and controlled drum kit, or on the contrary let the space breathe for a spacious and emotional sound.

Main Features

Recording Designed for Realism and Staging

Recorded at Power Station New England Studio in three rooms (Main, ISO Booth A, ISO Booth B), SDX Stories offers a wide variety of natural ambiances. This approach allows you to build a sound that fits your arrangement: close and intimate for a ballad, more open and punchy for a pop chorus, or wide and immersive for soundtrack-inspired productions.

Stereo to Surround 5.0 Compatibility

All kits and percussion were recorded with five additional room microphones to offer mixes ranging from stereo to surround 5.0. This coherent capture from room to room gives you great freedom to shape depth, width, and spatial sensation while maintaining a consistent sonic identity.

A Complete Production Instrument: Kits, Options, and Percussion

SDX Stories is not limited to "one" set: you get six complete drum kits available in nine configurations, with a generous selection of additional elements (snares, kick drums, cymbals). The result: you can switch from a very direct and controlled kit to a more open and expressive set, while keeping timbral coherence across the album or project.

Mix Presets and Dedicated MIDI for Straight to the Track

To speed up workflow, a large selection of ready-to-mix presets is included, designed by Frank and the Toontrack sound design team. Add to that individually recorded MIDI grooves and fills adapted to the kits, as well as a general collection of percussion patterns: ideal for starting from a credible base, refining the intention, then customizing the playing and sound according to your production.
