Dual Voicing 47/48

The 47 cardioid mode decouples the rear diaphragm ("true cardioid") for a wider response and increased sensitivity, especially in the highs. The 48 cardioid mode polarizes the rear membrane like the backplate ("active cardioid") for a tighter, warmer, and more intimate sound with reduced sensitivity. The 47 omni and 48 figure-eight positions complete the arsenal for your recording choices and room management.

Custom Capsule and Transformer

The UT K48 dual-diaphragm capsule, 6-micron Japanese Mylar NOS sprayed with 24k gold, optimized for 60 V, reproduces the historic smoothness without excessive brightness or sibilance. The UT-BV8 transformer, with high-nickel laminations and a copper Faraday shield, ensures impeccable output level, headroom, and RFI rejection.

Quiet and Stable Power Supply

Fully discrete power supply with isolated rails (filament, B+, and bias), Sparkos discrete regulator for the filament, high-voltage Zener regulation, oversized linear transformer, EMI/RFI input filter, and selectable RF filter on the audio output for clean and consistent tracks.
