A modern delay fueled by three major "vintage" families
The UAFX Starlight Echo Station follows in the footsteps of delays that have shaped decades of recorded guitars: the 70s tape echo, the American Bucket Brigade from the late 70s/early 80s, and then the more "studio" digital delays with perfectly readable repeats. Here, Universal Audio does not settle for a simple general character: the pedal captures the details that make the difference, such as the preamp of the original machines, the small instabilities, the modulation, and that "alive" feeling that makes you want to play one more phrase.
Who is the Starlight for, and in which styles does it make a difference?
The Starlight is aimed at the guitarist (and more broadly any instrumentalist) who wants a premium delay capable of covering a wide palette without multiplying pedals. In blues and rock, the tape echo adds depth, thickens leads, and gives a flattering halo to riffs. In pop, indie, and shoegaze, the modulations and stereo create a wide, cinematic movement. In ambient and post-rock, the hi-fi repeats, ping-pong, and smooth transitions allow building clean, readable, and deep pads and rhythmic patterns.
On a pedalboard, it easily replaces a "tape + analog" duo while maintaining immediate usability. In the studio, its studio-quality converters and defined repeats facilitate layering without muddying the mix.
