A "State" Fuzz: Vintage Spirit with Added Versatility

The Walrus Audio Eons fits into the grand tradition of characterful fuzz pedals, those that don't aim to be tame. The idea is simple: rather than locking you into a single texture, it offers five selectable clipping architectures, as if you had multiple fuzz pedals in one box. You can flirt with tones inspired by the great psychedelic and rock scenes of the '60s and '70s, then shift a notch toward tighter, more aggressive sounds tailored for punk, garage, and sharp riffs.
Its other signature feature is voltage management: instead of being a mere power detail, voltage becomes a true sound design tool. It changes the feel under your fingers, how notes swell, compress, tear, or gate-lock. The result: a fuzz that can both sing and bite.

For Which Guitarist (and Styles)?

Eons is aimed at musicians who want fuzz to be a full-fledged instrument. Whether you play gritty blues, classic rock, stoner, garage, punk, or even more atmospheric contexts, it offers a reservoir of textures that respond well to attack variations. It can become a thick sustain generator for leads or a riff engine that fills space effortlessly.
Live, it's a pedal designed to cut through the mix thanks to its density and to quickly adapt character with the mode selector. In the studio, it shines when layering takes: a more compressed mode for the foundation, then a more dynamic mode to bring the attack to life. And if you like playing with the guitar's volume knob, certain voltage and clipping settings let you go from controlled growl to frayed saturation without touching the amp.

Controls and Modes: A Fuzz Sculpted in a Snap

The interface centers on two essential controls. The Voltage knob (lightning bolt icon) lets you decide if the fuzz breathes wide open (up to 18V inside the circuit) or deliberately suffocates (down to 3V) to achieve more spitty, choppy sounds with that gate effect that cuts notes sharply. This control immediately changes the feel: higher voltage tends to open the sound and expand dynamics, lower voltage emphasizes a dirty, unstable character and the impression of saturation "on the edge of breaking."
The five-position rotary Mode selector defines the clipping family and thus the main texture of the grain. Combining Mode and Voltage lets you go from smooth, thick fuzz to a compressed, snarling war machine, with an almost infinite variety depending on your guitar, pickups, and amp.
The 5 Clipping Configurations (Modes): I. Silicon soft clipping: traditional fuzz, very round, huge, rather compressed and smooth. II. Silicon with bass boost: reinforces the low end at the start of the circuit, crunchier, still well compressed. III. Germanium soft clipping: a hybrid character between distortion and fuzz, crunchier and more dynamic. IV. LED clipping: slight treble cut, darker, with dynamic response. V. Hard clipping (silicon) + LED and silicon soft clipping: the wildest mode, very gated, compressed, loud, aggressive.

Sound

The Eons is primarily a thick fuzz: it loves walls of sound, chords that fill all space, and notes leaving a saturation trail behind them. At high voltage, the output can become more open and spacious, with a breathy, more natural attack feel-ideal for big riffs, double stops, and leads that need to stay clear despite the mass. At reduced voltage, it dives into a rawer aesthetic: spitty grain, more capricious sustain, and that "torn" texture perfect for punchy rhythm parts or snapping monophonic lines.
Silicon modes generally bring a more upfront and compressed side, excellent for stabilizing a massive fuzz sound. Germanium adds a touch of responsiveness and relief, as if the fuzz breathes more with your playing. The LED mode slightly darkens the high end and can be valuable on already bright amps or to get a "wider," less acidic fuzz. Finally, Mode V is for those who want maximum attitude: lots of gain, pick-attack compression, and a decidedly combative character.
