For 2024, the Warwick RockBass line has been revamped, incorporating the DNA of the German brand's classic models with a more accessible approach. The goal is clear: to preserve the aesthetic codes and musical attributes that have built Warwick's reputation, while offering an instrument designed to support bassists daily, from rehearsals to concerts.
A Versatile 5-String for Today's Bassists
With its 5-string configuration and active electronics, this RockBass is especially aimed at intermediate and advanced musicians seeking a responsive instrument capable of quickly adapting to musical contexts. It excels in rock, metal, funk, pop, gospel, and fusion, particularly when a firm and clear low end is needed, including in modern tunings or with dynamic right-hand playing.
The Sound
The combination of an alder body and a bolt-on neck promotes a crisp attack, good balance, and a usable midrange in the mix. The 3-piece neck (maple and ekanga) provides stability and precise response, while the wenge fingerboard enhances definition and bite, especially appreciated on a 5-string to keep the low B string clear.
On the electronics side, the two MEC "Dynamic Correction" active J pickups deliver an articulate sound with a clear spectrum and clean lows. The Volume / Balance controls allow quick switching from a tight, percussive tone (bridge pickup) to a rounder, deeper register (neck pickup). The active Treble / Bass EQ facilitates adaptation: brightness and slap that stand out, or reinforced lows to support a dense band without losing definition.
