RockBass 2024: An Update Designed to Recapture Warwick's DNA
The RockBass range gets a makeover in 2024 with a clear approach: offering instruments directly inspired by Warwick classics, maintaining the aesthetic codes and musical attributes that built the reputation of the German brand, while remaining more accessible. This version follows that logic, featuring refined craftsmanship and electronics designed to cover a wide range of situations.
For Whom and Which Styles?
This 4-string electric bass is especially aimed at motivated beginner bassists looking for a versatile instrument, as well as intermediate players who want a versatile bass for rehearsing, recording, and playing in bands. The humbucker + J combo and active electronics make it comfortable in rock, funk, pop, metal, or fusion, with good response for fingerstyle playing as well as more aggressive attacks.
Sound
The ash body provides a dynamic response and nice definition in the low end, while the AAA maple top enhances attack and clarity, ideal for maintaining presence in a busy mix. On the pickup side, the passive MEC Music Man style humbucker delivers a dense, powerful, and percussive sound, perfect for modern lines and strong grooves, whereas the passive MEC J adds precision and articulation, especially in the mids. The RockBass active preamp (Volume, Balance, Treble, Bass + switch) allows quick adjustment of balance and brightness, shifting from a round, deep tone to a more snappy and incisive signature.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original specifications, consider a set of Warwick Red Strings .045-.105 (the same gauge as factory-installed). The bass comes with a Student Line RockBag RB 20515 B/PLUS gig bag.
