Clavinova CVP: the spirit of piano, the versatility of an arranger
Positioned in the CVP series, the Yamaha Clavinova CVP-701 is designed as a true home digital piano that also "accompanies" your playing. Its Real Grand Expression approach emphasizes dynamics, control, and musicality, while accompaniment styles, interactive playing functions, and learning tools transform every session into a complete experience, from solo piano practice to performing with a virtual orchestra.
Keyboard Design
The CVP-701 features an 88-key GH3X (Graded Hammer 3X) keyboard with escapement, designed to replicate the feel of an acoustic piano: graded response, precise attacks, and better control at low volume. The "synthetic ivory" coating enhances grip and comfort during long sessions. Sensitivity is adjustable (Hard2, Hard1, Medium, Soft1, Soft2, Fixed) to tailor the touch to your technique. The 3 pedals (sustain, sostenuto, soft) include continuous detection (Half Pedal) and also offer assignable functions (Glide, Song Play/Pause, Style Start/Stop, Volume, etc.) to control the instrument without taking your hands off the keyboard.
Sound Quality
The sound generation combines Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial piano samples, with key-by-key sampling, Smooth Release, and VRM to reproduce string behavior, soundboard resonance, and harmonic interactions. With a maximum polyphony of 256 notes, playing with sustain, layering, or accompaniment remains clear and smooth. The library includes 777 voices (plus 29 drum/SFX kits and 480 XG voices), featuring Super Articulation, MegaVoice, and Live!, Cool!, Sweet! voice families for credible arrangements. For sound projection, the 25 W x 2 amplification and two 16 cm speakers provide generous output, enhanced by the Acoustic Optimizer, while the Stereo Optimizer improves spatial perception when using headphones.
Built-in Effects
- Reverbs (Presets and user memories) to place the piano and instruments in a natural space
- Chorus to thicken pads and widen sounds
- Multiple DSPs to shape timbres according to style (piano, stage, pop, etc.)
- Master Compressor and Master EQ to homogenize and balance the overall sound
- Part EQ to fine-tune the mix of accompaniment and voices
- Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) and Stereo Optimizer for more comfortable listening, especially at low volume
