A New Generation Yamaha Silent Guitar Designed for the Traveling Musician
With the SLG200, Yamaha evolves the "Silent Guitar" concept: a minimalist-format guitar designed to reduce natural acoustic volume while offering a true playing experience and easy use in the studio or on stage. The integration of the SRT system marks a turning point in the range by aiming for a more realistic and more "microphone-like" reproduction than classic internal preamps.
For Whom and Which Styles?
The Yamaha SLG200 is aimed at beginner to advanced guitarists looking for a discreet guitar to practice at home, in an apartment, or on the go, without sacrificing comfort. Its "nylon strings" approach suits classical and Latin repertoires as well as pop and fingerstyle styles when a soft touch and direct sound output (mixer, audio interface, amplifier) are desired.
Sound
The "Silent" principle is based on a structure without a traditional body: the guitar naturally projects much less than a standard classical guitar, allowing late-night playing without disturbance. To regain a credible acoustic signature when amplified, the SLG200 relies on SRT and the SRT Blend control that allows mixing the direct pickup sound and microphone simulation. The equalizers (bass/treble) and "smooth" control help tailor the sound for headphones, recording, or amplification, while the reverbs and chorus add immediate depth without external gear.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Yamaha Silent G200N Nylon Natural suitable for headphone playing in an apartment?
The open body design significantly limits the acoustic volume in the room. A Phone Input output and included stereo headphones allow practice with headphones, featuring a Smooth Control adjustment to soften the sound.
Can an audio source be connected to play along with backing tracks?
The AUX IN input allows connection of an audio source, with the level adjustable via the AUX.Vol control. The guitar also has a Line OUT output for an amplifier, mixer, or audio interface.
What is the sound like from the SRT Powered system?
The SRT Powered system combines a direct sensor with a mic simulation, adjustable via the SRT Blend control. Bass and Treble settings refine the balance, while Reverb1, Reverb2, and Chorus effects are built-in.
Does the neck have the dimensions of a classical guitar?
The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 50 mm. The rosewood fingerboard has a flat radius, with a string spacing of 11.5 mm.
Is the nylon Silent Guitar easy to transport?
