A Yamaha Silent Guitar Designed for Stage, Studio, and Travel
With the Silent Guitar series, Yamaha developed a unique concept: maintaining the familiar features of a guitar (feel, scale length, balance) while drastically reducing acoustic volume. The SLG200 marks a significant evolution in the range thanks to the integration of the SRT (Studio Response Technology) system, designed to bring amplified sound closer to the sensation of a guitar recorded in the studio. The design, both elegant and futuristic, asserts a strong identity while remaining immediately "guitaristic" in playability.
For Whom, and in Which Styles?
The Yamaha SLG200 (nylon string version) is aimed at classical and fingerstyle guitarists who want to practice at any time, stage musicians seeking a reliable and discreet instrument (monitoring, feedback, stage constraints), as well as travelers needing a compact guitar. Its slim ergonomics also facilitate the transition for electric guitarists looking for sensations closer to a "slim" instrument than a traditional classical guitar. Ideal for classical, bossa, Latin, acoustic pop, accompaniment, and click-track recording via headphones.
Sound
Unplugged, the "bodyless" design greatly limits projection: this is precisely the goal for silent practice. Plugged in, the SLG200 uses SRT Powered electronics, which combine the sensor signal with a microphone simulation, adjustable via "SRT Blend." The result is more natural, with more credible attacks and a more "acoustic" image than many traditional internal systems. The equalization settings (bass/treble), "Smooth" control, and built-in effects (reverbs, chorus) allow quick adaptation of the tone for solo playing, accompaniment, or direct console recording.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay autonomous while traveling, simply bring spare AA batteries for powering the onboard system.
