SQ7+: The SQ Philosophy, Boosted for Demanding Productions
The SQ7+ continues the legacy of the latest generation SQ consoles, featuring the 96 kHz XCVI FPGA core developed by Allen & Heath for its high-end systems. The goal is clear: maintain phase coherence and consistent audio quality even when sessions become dense, with numerous microphones, multiple monitor mixes, and productions requiring responsiveness.
This "plus" version goes further with increased processing power, extended control commands, a larger 9-inch touchscreen, and a redesigned interface. It targets contractors and production teams seeking a modern digital mixing console that is quick to master yet capable of handling complex situations without compromise.
Who Is the SQ7+ For? Front of House, Monitors, Corporate, Broadcast
The Allen & Heath SQ7+ excels where clarity and speed are paramount: concerts, corporate events, multi-speaker panels, recordings, and audiovisual environments. Its latency below 0.7 ms and 96 kHz operation make it a solid foundation whenever a natural sound, stable stereo image, and sharp attacks are required, even with processing and effects.
On stage, its 12 configurable mixes allow building comfortable monitors (wedges or in-ear) while maintaining a clear routing structure. In conferences and round tables, the integrated Automatic Microphone Mixer (AMM) becomes a valuable ally for preserving intelligibility without adding complexity or latency.
A Console Designed for Workflow: Power, Ergonomics, Expandability
XCVI 96 kHz: A Sound Foundation and Latency Tailored for the Field
At the heart of the SQ7+, the XCVI FPGA processor handles audio at 96 kHz with ultra-low latency under 0.7 ms. This architecture aims for a coherent mix, very low noise level, and precision noticeable on transients, reverbs, and dynamics management, especially in recording and broadcasting.
48 Input Channels, a Standalone Console... and Ready to Expand
The SQ7+ is designed to operate autonomously with its local inputs and outputs while remaining expandable. The SLink port allows extending the system up to 48 total mic inputs via compatible stage boxes and expanders, and also opens the door to broader system connections within the Allen & Heath ecosystem.
For audio network integrations, the I/O port accommodates an optional dedicated card (e.g., Dante or Waves). This is a direct solution to interface the console with an existing infrastructure, manage front of house/monitor digital splits, or integrate a range of digital audio devices without redesigning the entire chain.
DEEP Ready, RackExtra, and RackUltra: "Console" Processing Without Friction
The SQ7+ is "DEEP Ready": the DEEP architecture allows choosing boutique-style compressors and preamp emulations according to the desired aesthetic, integrated into input and mix channels without added latency or heavy configuration.
For sound shaping and creativity, the console offers 8 stereo effects engines with dedicated stereo returns within a RackExtra effects bank (reverbs, gated reverbs, delays, modulations). SQ+ models also add 4 RackUltra FX engines with dedicated send and return channels to thicken a live mix or refine an audiovisual production without "eating" routing resources.
Simple and Efficient Recording: SQ-Drive + 32x32 USB Interface
To archive a show, prepare a virtual soundcheck, or launch playbacks, the SQ7+ offers two complementary approaches. SQ-Drive enables recording and playback via USB-A (flash drive or disk) without a computer. Meanwhile, the USB-B connection turns the console into a 32x32 audio interface at 96 kHz, suitable for multitrack recording and DAW use, with DAW control and MIDI functions.
