Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The Regulator RSM is part of Aquarian's Regulator series, designed to simplify bass drum miking both in the studio and live. Its concept of integrated muffling (Aquarian patent) aims for an immediately usable result while preserving the musical role of a true resonance head.
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
This bass drum resonance head is aimed at drummers of all levels who want an easy-to-manage bass drum: rehearsals, concerts, recording, and situations where quick "plug and play" is needed. It is especially suitable for pop, rock, metal, funk, and gospel styles, whenever a solid low end and clear control are sought.
Features and Innovations
The centrally positioned Floating Muffling Ring adds control without killing the shell's breath, and the offset port facilitates microphone placement while maintaining consistent resonance. This head is touted as the ideal companion for Super-Kick batter heads to achieve a bass drum that tunes and sounds great in moments.
The Sound
Thanks to its single ply construction, the Regulator RSM retains a feeling of natural resonance and balanced projection. The internal muffling provides a more controlled note decay, with clearer lows and fewer overtones, helping the bass drum stay stable on the mic without stacking foam or accessories.
