A Precision Model in Audio-Technica's Studio Line

Part of a range known for its neutrality and reliability, the AT4041 has established itself as a reference "pencil" microphone for demanding sound capture. Its permanently polarized capsule and refined electronics provide consistent and stable reproduction over time, ideal for engineers seeking a faithful sonic signature.

Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?

Designed for acoustic instruments and detailed sources, the AT4041 excels on folk guitars, pianos, strings, percussion, drum overheads, as well as woodwinds and brass. Its discreet form factor facilitates close placement, while the 80 Hz high-pass filter cleans up unwanted low frequencies both on stage and in the home studio.

Design and Features Serving the Recording Process

The fixed-charge capsule and precisely machined backplate reduce narrow frequency peaks and distortion. The absence of a transformer ensures a direct signal path, better handling of high levels, and a very clear transient image. The cardioid pattern, consistent across the useful spectrum, optimizes the source-to-ambient ratio.

The integrated switches offer a "flat" mode for natural capture, an attenuation for powerful sources, and a 12 dB/octave 80 Hz high-pass filter to control handling noise, hiss, and hum. Powered by 48 V phantom power (typical 4.2 mA), the microphone delivers an output level of -32 dB (25.1 mV), a signal-to-noise ratio of 70 dB, and a typical dynamic range of 121 dB, ensuring clean and expansive recordings.

Its black chrome turned brass body limits reflections and increases durability, while the integrated 3-pin XLRM connector ensures immediate integration into any studio setup.
