Designed and manufactured in Austria, the OC818 is Austrian Audio's first large-diaphragm microphone and immediately sets a high-end standard. Its ceramic CKR12 capsule, produced with exceptional precision, ensures rare consistency: two OC818s blend effortlessly and, in cardioid mode, it also pairs with the OC18, its more accessible sibling.
For Demanding Sound Engineers, From Studio to Stage
Vocalists, voice-over, pianos, guitars, overheads, acoustic ensembles, broadcast capture, and live sound: the OC818 covers it all. Its very low noise floor facilitates delicate recordings, while its pads and high SPL handling take on the most powerful sources without flinching, from brass to drums.
Recording Features Tailored for Modern Use
Adjustable Polar Patterns and Remote Control
Choose the ideal polar pattern on the microphone body or fine-tune it afterward with "PolarDesigner" (Win/Mac). In the field, the optional OCR8 Bluetooth key and the "PolarPilot" app (iOS/Android) allow real-time switching of the polar pattern without touching the mic stand.
Clean, Precise, and Shapable Signal
With a sensitivity of 13 mV/Pa, a signal-to-noise ratio above 84 dB, and low-cut filters at 40, 80, and 160 Hz, the OC818 guarantees clear tracks that are easy to integrate into the mix. The -10 and -20 dB pads preserve clarity on high-level sources, while the dual balanced output ensures reliable integration into any professional setup.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Austrian Audio OC818 Black Dual Set Go suitable for stereo recording?
The Dual Set configuration combines two OC818 microphones, whose CKR12 capsules are designed for great consistency. The two balanced XLR outputs allow integration into a stereo recording setup.
What polar patterns are available on the OC818?
Four switchable polar patterns are offered: omnidirectional, cardioid, supercardioid, and figure-8. The polar pattern can also be adjusted after recording with the PolarDesigner software on Windows and Mac.
Can this microphone be used on drums or brass instruments?
With a maximum SPL of 148 dB, extended to 158 dB with pad, this microphone supports high-level sources. The -10 dB and -20 dB attenuators help preserve signal clarity. Low-cut filters at 40, 80, and 160 Hz are available to reduce unwanted low frequencies.
What power supply is required for the OC818?
A 48 V phantom power supply is required for operation via the XLR connection.
Can the polar pattern be controlled remotely?
Remote control is possible with the OCR8 Bluetooth key and the PolarPilot app for iOS and Android. The OCR8 key is listed as optional.
