Two Overdrive Legends, Reimagined "Beetronics Style"

The Wannabee Beelateral Fuzz (aka "Beelateral Buzz") embodies Beetronics' philosophy: taking legendary foundations and pushing them into more expressive territory. Circuit #0 draws inspiration from the Bluesbreaker spirit with a vintage amp grain, clear definition, and a very "tube-like" warmth in feel. Circuit #1 explores the Klon family: an overdrive renowned for its transparency, mix presence, and ability to boost an amp without masking the guitar's character.

Where the pedal truly stands out is in its three flavors per circuit and especially its approach to blending and order of stages. You no longer just pick "one overdrive + another overdrive": you build a chain that can act as a boost, amp crunch, denser saturation, or a highly articulated layering.

Who Is the Wannabee For, and Which Styles Does It Excel In?

The Wannabee targets guitarists seeking a versatile and musical gain pedal capable of covering everything from light "edge of breakup" to more hypnotic distortion via circuit stacking. It suits both intermediate players (to quickly find multiple drive colors) and advanced players (to sculpt routing, mix, and dynamics depending on the amp).

Style-wise, it shines in blues, rock, indie, classic rock, pop, and any genres where a responsive drive to attack and guitar volume is sought. In the studio, the parallel mode is a formidable tool to preserve attack and clarity while adding grit. Live, the two footswitches facilitate gain level changes without losing your sonic identity.

Parallel/Series Routing, "Flavors," and Controls: A Dual Overdrive Like No Other

The pedal combines two distinct overdrives, each with three flavors. On circuit #0 (Bluesbreaker-inspired), these variations primarily control bass energy and the sense of breadth, shifting from tight crunch to broader drive. On circuit #1 (Klon-inspired), the flavors act as mix options with the original signal: handy for retaining bite and definition even with more gain.

The heart of the Wannabee is its routing system. In the center position, you can blend both circuits in parallel via volume controls, deciding with your foot when each circuit activates. In left or right positions, you switch to series mode, choosing the order: #1 into #0, or #0 into #1. This freedom changes everything: in series, pushing the first stage's volume lets you drive the second for richer, denser saturation with perfectly controllable sustain and compression.

Each circuit also features a dedicated tone control to balance brightness and body according to your guitar (single coils, humbuckers) and amp (very clean, crunchy combo, high-gain head used on clean channel, etc.). Finally, the pedal includes a dynamic switching control, designed to make transitions smoother and more musical when toggling between circuits.

Sound

The Wannabee stands out with a gain approach that remains alive under the fingers: lots of nuance, a highly usable attack response, and excellent compatibility with guitar volume to clean up the sound without killing it. Circuit #0 willingly delivers a "vintage amp" grain, clear and warm, ideal for thickening a clean tone without muddiness. Circuit #1 adds a more transparent and structured overdrive, with a slightly "sweet" character that highlights just the right mids.

In parallel, you can maintain the attack and clarity of the direct sound while adding grit, as if blending two channels. In series, the pedal becomes more captivating: more saturation, more sustain, while keeping useful articulation for chords and riffs. It's a dual overdrive that can remain subtle... or become a true texture generator, depending on order and output levels.
