A compact format inspired by the "flagship" approach of the ES series
Designed in the spirit of the ES-8, the ES-5 incorporates the fundamentals that made modern switchers successful: centralizing the control of your pedalboard, ensuring reliable sound changes, and making your set more musical. While many loopers are limited to activating or cutting loops, the ES-5 goes further by offering a true patch and programming logic, all in a chassis designed to easily integrate with standard pedalboards.
The result: you gain a compact "brain" for your effects chain, capable of memorizing your configurations (loops, buffers, external controls) and providing a much smoother experience both live and in the studio.

The ES-5 is aimed at musicians who use multiple pedals (drive, modulation, delay, reverb, etc.) and want to switch from one sound to another without cutting their playing or wasting time between songs. In concert, it allows chaining complex changes (multiple pedals at once) with a single press, ensuring clean and coherent transitions. In the studio, it becomes an excellent tool to compare effect orders, test combinations, or recall precise routing from one session to another.
From blues to rock, pop to modern metal, and even more experimental setups (ambient, post-rock), it is particularly suited for pedalboards where precision and repeatability are essential.

Questions frequently asked
Can the order of pedals be changed with the Boss ES-5?
The five audio loops can be rearranged patch by patch, with the option to use a parallel chain via the built-in mixer.
Can the switcher control MIDI pedals?
The MIDI IN and MIDI OUT/THRU outputs allow synchronization of MIDI pedals with the analog loops. Changes can thus be memorized within the patches.
How many presets can be saved?
In Memory mode, 200 patch memories are available. Each patch can recall the activation of the 5 loops, their order, and the external control settings. Manual mode provides direct access to switching functions.
Are the buffers adjustable on the ES-5?
Input and output buffers can be activated independently and their state can be saved per patch. The input has an impedance of 1 MΩ when the buffer is active.
What are the dimensions and connections of the pedalboard?
The enclosure measures 337 × 97 × 68 mm and weighs 1.3 kg. Connectivity includes one input, 5 SEND, 5 RETURN, one output, a TUNER output on a 6.35 mm jack, as well as TRS CTL/EXP jacks.
