A "power tool" designed for two-amp rigs (live and studio)
The Headbone was created for a very specific situation: to enjoy two amp heads (for example, a clean platform and a crunch machine) while keeping only one speaker cabinet. The concept is remarkably effective: you broaden your sonic palette while reducing clutter and setup time on stage.
Depending on your setup, there are three variants : Headbone VT (two tube amps), Headbone SS (two solid-state amps), and Headbone TS (one tube amp + one solid-state amp). The idea remains the same: clean, fast, and secure switching, serving sound and simplicity.
Who is it for, what styles, and in which contexts?
The Headbone is aimed at guitarists and techs who want to switch amps instantly without compromise: stage musicians alternating between rhythm and lead parts, tone enthusiasts wanting a backup amp ready to take over, or studios doing A/B testing between two heads to choose the best tone.
It's particularly relevant in rock, hard rock, metal, and blues, wherever the amp's character defines the playing style. On a pedalboard, it integrates easily at the end of the effects chain, and in a rack or backstage, it helps keep speaker cables short and the stage tidier.
Switching, connectivity, and controls: everything is designed to avoid surprises
For the guitar side, the Headbone offers a choice of passive or active input and uses optocouplers to ensure silent signal switching. On the speaker side, sealed relays switch the amp outputs: an approach designed to handle the demands of a speaker-level signal while remaining reliable over time.
The Headbone manages amp transitions to maintain the appropriate impedances : the unselected amp is connected to a resistor to stay "loaded." In case of power failure, the SafeMode system automatically defaults back to Amp-1. Amp switching is done via the built-in footswitch or remotely using the Slingshot controller (handy for controlling the switch from a pedalboard while keeping the Headbone near the amps).
The sound
This is not a pedal that colors your tone, but a device designed to be transparent. The Headbone is engineered to preserve the "natural" sound of your guitar and amps, with switching that remains discreet even at high volume. The Class A circuit and design focused on "operating silence" aim for a clear goal: your audience hears an amp change, not a system change.
In practice, you retain your playing dynamics, the response of your gain stages, and the character of your heads, while gaining ergonomics impossible to achieve with manual unplugging (and much safer for your gear).

Questions frequently asked
Is the Radial Headbone VT compatible with two tube heads?
This VT version is designed to switch two tube amps to a single speaker cabinet. The SS and TS variants cater respectively to two solid-state and tube + solid-state configurations.
How is the unselected amp kept protected?
When switching, the inactive amp is connected to a resistor to maintain proper load and impedance. The SafeMode system automatically switches to Amp-1 in case of power failure. This protection is designed to handle speaker-level signal constraints.
Can amp switching be controlled from a pedalboard?
Switching is done using the built-in footswitch or via the Slingshot remote control. The Headbone can remain near the amp heads while control is placed on the pedalboard.
What guitar inputs are available?
Two input modes are offered: passive at 100 kOhms and active at 10 kOhms. Guitar signal switching uses optocouplers.
What power supply is required for this amp selector?
The supplied power supply delivers 15 V DC with a consumption of 400 mA.
