An Exceptional Clarinet in the Spirit of the French School
The Buffet Crampon Tosca follows the tradition of great French clarinets while incorporating a modern design approach. Developed with clarinetist and educator Michel Arrignon and in collaboration with leading musicians, it aims for a refined sound aesthetic: a dense timbre, an extended harmonic palette, and a very "right hand/left hand" control sensation. Its DNA remains clearly linked to the R13 bore family, with a design intended to offer depth in the chalumeau register, clarity in the clarion, and continuity of color in the upper register.
Who Is This Bb Tosca For?
This Bb clarinet is tailored for advanced, pre-professional, and professional clarinetists seeking an expressive and highly responsive instrument. It excels in classical settings (orchestra, chamber music, conservatory, competitions), where attack precision and intonation stability are crucial. Its flexibility and ease of sound production also make it suitable for more modern repertoires (variety, stage music) whenever a centered, elegant, and projected sound is desired.
Sound and Design
The Tosca stands out with a pronounced roundness and harmonic richness that remain clear even in piano dynamics. The poly-cylindrical bore (internal profile combining several sections to optimize register balance) promotes a natural projection without harshness and appreciable homogeneity during register transitions. The Green LinE body, a composite material, provides additional stability against climatic variations while maintaining precise response. For comfort, the adjustable thumb rest helps to adjust posture, and the mechanism is designed for a smooth touch, with keywork supporting fast and articulated playing.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the best out of this Bb clarinet, you can pair it with common and compatible consumables and accessories: Bb clarinet reeds (chosen according to your level and air resistance), cork grease for joint maintenance, and a Bb clarinet swab to reduce internal moisture after playing. These essentials improve response consistency and help preserve the longevity of the pads.
