The Tosca holds a prominent place among Buffet Crampon professional clarinets. Developed with Michel Arrignon and in collaboration with leading representatives of the French wind instrument school, it combines modern design with the acoustic heritage of the renowned R13 family. Its identity is built around a broad, refined and highly nuanced tone, sought after by demanding clarinettists.

This version features Green LinE material, a composite made from grenadilla powder and carbon fibres. It retains a wood-like touch while providing excellent stability against changes in humidity and temperature. The fitted tenons also contribute to the robustness of the connections between the different sections of the instrument.

The Buffet Crampon Tosca Green LinE is primarily intended for advanced clarinettists, higher-education students, teachers and professional musicians. Its complete keywork, comfortable handling and ability to respond to the finest musical intentions make it suitable for in-depth work on both technique and interpretation.

It naturally finds its place in the classical repertoire, symphony orchestra, chamber music, conservatoire and solo performance settings. Its flexibility also makes it suitable for more contemporary styles or instrumental popular music, whenever the player is looking for a clarinet that is precise, expressive and able to maintain its stability across all registers.

A rich, rounded tone supported by high-end keywork

The poly-cylindrical bore, meaning an internal profile combining different cylindrical sections, promotes tonal richness and instrument balance. The Tosca stands out for its round, dense and colourful sound, with a strong presence without sacrificing refinement. It allows players to shape dynamics, support long melodic lines and maintain excellent consistency between the low, middle and high registers.

The two supplied barrels, measuring 65 and 66 mm, allow the clarinet's acoustic length to be adjusted to match the tuning of the ensemble. The 440 Hz or 442 Hz pitch therefore meets common requirements in chamber music, orchestral and conservatoire settings. The barrel is the component located between the mouthpiece and the upper joint; its length directly affects the overall intonation.

The silver-plated keywork features 19 keys and 6 rings, with a standard Eb lever and a low F correction key. These features facilitate certain fingerings, make technical passages more secure and contribute to greater accuracy in demanding sections. The adjustable thumb rest helps adapt the playing position to the clarinettist's physique.

The cold-forged, blued springs contribute to a fast and consistent key action. The pads combine GT models, which are waterproof and breathable, with natural cork pads. This combination is designed to provide good tone-hole sealing, essential for maintaining a clear response, reliable intonation and consistent response throughout the instrument's range.
