A Revisited Diamond Concept: From “Boost Without Compression” to the Next-Generation Boost/EQ
The Diamond Boost/EQ embodies the brand’s DNA: a “hi-fi” approach to the guitar signal, with a strong sense of dynamics and punch. The concept originally came from a very simple request: to recapture the spirit of the famous Diamond circuit, but without compression, while retaining the Tilt EQ. Nearly two decades after the first version, Diamond is reinventing the format on the same platform as the Comp/EQ, with a gain stage that is clean, generous and highly versatile on any pedalboard.
Who Is the Diamond Boost/EQ For?
This pedal is aimed at guitarists (and bassists, depending on the setup) who want to add presence without losing the identity of their instrument. In Boost mode, it is perfectly suited to blues, rock, pop, funk and country musicians looking for a reliable clean boost to thicken a clean tone, lift an arpeggiated passage, or give a crunching amp a “push”.
In OD mode, the Boost/EQ becomes a low- to moderate-gain overdrive, ideal for energetic rhythm parts, singing leads and “edge of breakup” tones. It also excels as a pre-saturation pedal placed before a fuzz or a more pronounced overdrive, helping to refine the low end and better seat the mids in the mix. Live, it is a formidable ally for maintaining a consistent, clearly defined level, even when the drums and bass are taking up space.

Questions frequently asked
Can the Diamond Boost/EQ be used as a clean boost to drive an amp?
The Boost mode significantly increases the output level to drive a preamp stage, saturation, or to highlight a passage. The response maintains an uncompressed approach, with clear dynamics and attack.
What type of overdrive does the OD mode provide?
The OD mode uses soft clipping diodes to deliver a transparent overdrive with low to moderate gain. Chords retain their definition and leads gain density.
How does the 800 Hz Tilt EQ work?
The Tilt EQ operates around 800 Hz with a plus or minus 6 dB shift. It allows warming up a bright tone or opening up a darker amp setting by adjusting the balance between bass and treble.
Does the Mid control help the guitar cut through a mix?
The Mid control affects 800 Hz over a range of plus or minus 10 dB. This midrange adjustment helps tailor the guitar's presence against bass and drums.
What power supply is required for this Diamond pedal?
The pedal requires a DC power supply ranging from 9 to 18 V DC.
