A modern reverb that revisits the classic "room / hall / plate" fundamentals... in an evolving version

The Ledges is a compact reverb that goes straight to the point: three classics (Room, Hall, Plate) instead of an endless list of programs. The trick is that these modes are designed to flow naturally: the longest Room blends into the shortest Hall, then the longest Hall blends into the shortest Plate, until reaching a Plate with a decay that can become almost infinite. The result: you can build a very gradual ambiance rise, perfect for an opening intro, a wider chorus, or a drone-like finale.

Within the EarthQuaker Devices range, the Ledges targets musicians who want a "premium" reverb without menu navigation, without mandatory MIDI controller, and without unnecessary complexity. It stays true to the pedalboard spirit: immediate, musical, and flexible enough to cover both utility reverb and sonic exploration.

For which guitarists and usage contexts?

The Ledges is aimed both at beginner guitarists looking for a beautiful, easy-to-set reverb and at seasoned musicians needing reliable presets live. In the studio, it naturally sits at the end of the chain to add depth without drowning the attack, and on stage it allows recalling coherent ambiances from one song to another (tight verse, wide chorus, infinite interlude).

Style-wise, it fits well in indie, alternative rock, post-rock, shoegaze, ambient, but also in blues/rock whenever you want a short room or an '80s-style slapback. It also works very well with other sources (synth, bass, drum machines) whenever you seek a dense and clean mono reverb.

Controls, presets, and expression: a simple pedal... but incredibly controllable

The Ledges is based on three central controls: Mix (effect blend), Length (reverb duration/size), and Damping (high-frequency attenuation in reflections). The latter is crucial to place the reverb in the mix: increasing damping yields a darker, more "behind" the direct sound ambiance, ideal with already bright saturations or delays.

The Mode selector switches between R (Room), H (Hall), and P (Plate). The Preset selector chooses one of 6 memory slots, while the central Save/Recall button records and recalls your settings. The pedal offers two global operating modes, indicated by the Save/Recall button color: green for "Live" use where knobs reflect what you hear, and red for "Preset" use focused on instant recall.

Going further, the expression input (6.35mm stereo jack) can be assigned to Mix, Length, or Damping, and this assignment can be saved in each preset. This is a real plus for musical transitions: for example, expression pedal on Length to open the reverb at phrase end, or on Mix to shift from a light ambiance to a reverb wall without changing your output level.

Sound

The Ledges delivers a warm, wide, and very "3D" reverb, with a spatial feeling that remains clear even as decay lengthens. The Room mode adds proximity and relief (perfect to thicken a clean or light crunch sound), the Hall mode stretches the perceived stereo field giving a "room" depth impression, and the Plate mode provides a dense reflection texture that can become hypnotic when Length is pushed.

Its dynamics are particularly pleasant: the pedal responds well to playing, and the Damping/Length pair allows choosing between a bright and present reverb or, conversely, a darker pad that envelops without masking. To place its aesthetic, the Ledges is notably used by guitarists like Josh Klinghoffer, Takeshi Ohtani, and Masaaki Yaguchi, which speaks volumes about its ability to cover ranges from textured ambient to more direct rock.
