Essential Information About the Ehrlund EHR-T Stereo Microphone
Essential Information About the Ehrlund EHR-T Stereo Microphone
- Stereo version of the EHR-M series: dual capsule and dual output to record and mix directivity after recording.
- Three usable polar patterns: cardioid, bi-directional, and omnidirectional, thanks to a front/rear diaphragm design.
- "Clear and natural" sound: very wide response, deep bass, extended highs, with an equivalent noise level below 9 dBA.
- Powerful output: strong signal generally requiring little gain, ideal for preserving the transparency of the chain (preamps, conversion).

A stereo variant designed to go further in the EHR range
The Ehrlund EHR-T is positioned as a stereo variant of the EHR-M series, with a "studio"-oriented approach: faithfully capturing a source while maintaining great freedom of decision during mixing. Its internal architecture is based on a core with patented dual triangular diaphragms, complemented by electronics optimized for 48 V phantom power, featuring very low noise and low consumption.
This philosophy translates into a wide and smooth reproduction, designed to be unobtrusive: a microphone aiming for definition and coherence rather than effect. In practice, the EHR-T performs well both in close miking and ambient recording, with a comfortable dynamic range to handle high levels.
For which uses? A creative stereo microphone for studio, stage, and ambient recording
Thanks to its two outputs and front/rear design, the EHR-T is tailored for sound engineers, studios, content creators, and demanding musicians who want to shape the directivity and stereo width during mixing, without relying on a single choice at the time of recording. It is particularly suitable for acoustic instruments (strings, woodwinds, piano), room miking, ensembles, as well as applications seeking a very natural sound.
Its high output signal is a tangible advantage: less gain to apply often means a quieter and cleaner chain, especially on delicate sources. It also facilitates integration with many preamps and audio interfaces, maintaining headroom before saturation.
Polar patterns, dual output, and low noise: what changes in daily use
Front/rear dual diaphragm: more control over image and space
The principle of the EHR-T is based on a dual diaphragm (front and rear) allowing the use of cardioid, bi-directional, and omnidirectional behaviors. With its two outputs via a 5-pin stereo XLR cable, you retrieve signals separately, opening the door to multiple balances: centering a source, widening an ambiance, adjusting room contribution, or modifying the proximity effect in post-production.
A wide and "smooth" reproduction for recordings that mix easily
With a frequency range announced from 7 Hz to 87,000 Hz, the EHR-T targets a very extended response: deep bass and detailed high frequencies. This profile is particularly relevant when you want to preserve air, body, and clean transients, whether on percussive instruments, strings, or ambient recordings requiring depth without harshness.
Low noise and dynamic range: a solid foundation for a professional chain
The low self-noise (equivalent noise level below 9 dBA) and dynamic range of 115 dB provide a microphone capable of handling very soft passages as well as more pronounced peaks. Add to that moderate consumption on 48 V phantom power, and you get a reliable tool for long sessions, multi-mic setups, and environments where signal cleanliness is a priority.

Staggering! When Woodbrass recommended this mic to me in response to my request for voice recording, I was quite skeptical. I went to consult the Swedish manufacturer's site and discovered their triangular membrane.
The idea is interesting at least from a physical point of view. Nevertheless, I questioned myself about its application in a real capture situation. I received the microphone in its Spartan packaging a few days later.
At Woodbrass I was warned to use the pad on my Grâce Design preamp. They did well! The microphone sends heavy questions to levels. But, from the very first moments, I was amazed by the quality of the highs, the nature of the transients in the high midrange and by the overall depth of the tones.
So I decided to try it on a small brass band. Madness! This mic is simply the craziest thing I've heard in a very, very long time. The combination with Grace Design is excellent.
But our tests with the small preamps of an Audient iD44 were just as good. This microphone is a remarkable tool. It is simple and easy to use. It is delivered without a connection cable. Attention: stereo microphone requires, provide a well-made cable that decouples the left and right voices.
A big big thank you to our advisor at Woodbrass for this great discovery. Laurent. Inge are in Brittany.Automatically translated

Questions frequently asked
Does the Ehrlund EHR-T allow adjustment of stereo width during mixing?
The front and rear diaphragms have separate outputs via a 5-pin stereo XLR cable. This makes it possible to control the stereo image, ambient contribution, and proximity sensation in post-production.
What polar patterns are available on this stereo microphone?
The dual triangular diaphragms enable the use of omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-8 polar patterns.
Does this microphone require 48 V phantom power?
The microphone requires 48 V phantom power, consuming 4.0 mA in total or 2.0 mA per channel. Sensitivity is -33 dBV/Pa, which corresponds to 23 mV/Pa at 1 kHz. This high output reduces the gain needed on the preamplifier.
Can it record a piano, strings, or room ambience?
Its frequency response from 7 Hz to 87,000 Hz and equivalent noise below 9 dBA make it suitable for acoustic instruments and room recordings. The dynamic range of 115 dB covers both soft passages and more pronounced peaks.
What maximum sound pressure level can this microphone handle?
The maximum SPL is 116 dB at 0.5% THD and 122 dB at 1% THD.
